Leanne - THANKS A LOT! I want #8830 too.....oh my. The first one is cute also.
And that mare is so sweet looking...she looks like she should be in a painting or a movie with feathers braided into her mane.....
Okay - need to go away and stop looking. That baby is adorable though...

There were somewhere around twenty horses up for adoption at the BLM Palomino Valley facility webpage...and most of the ones offered are from the Wheelers Pass, NV herd...
They are SO NICE! I love this herd...very very colorful....I'll have to look up the genetics of the Wheelers Pass horses to see if they are derived from escaped settlers horses...I would be instantly in love with any of them...

If only we had the time for another horse in need of training. I'd name #8829,"Nuetiegwa". Cherokee for the Big Medicine Moon. Here is why: The 'crescent Moon' nearest Autumn Equinox signals the beginning of a new cycle of creation according to many ancient traditions. The Cherokee call this the Great New Moon and believe it is when the world is recreated each year.

Thank you swissgirl. Does anyone know what happens to these mustangs if no one adopts them? The internet adoption gallery must have thirty yearlings listed for Palomino Valley and only three are getting bid on. They have some really nice looking babies.

After being put up for adoption three times anyone can come and buy them, meaning that they don't have to have any proof of being able to care for them and they are not subject to a yearlong waiting period, they just get them, so many end up being bought for meat.

so it's a meat buyers "Happy Hour". How sad. We don't currently have the required setup, but I could sure offer them a better home than a slaughter house. GURRR that make sme angry!!!!!!

They are all so cute. I love how innocent they look, so fresh and willing to learn. Sometimes they are so much easier to train. They have a nice clean slate.
Just adorable....

Oooh, if you make a road trip can I come? I can not, no I can not, take any more horses (OK, that's starting to sound like I'm channeling Dr. Seuss: "I can not take them on a barge, I can not take them, they're too large. I can not take them up a tree, I can not take them, can't you see? I can not take them, dear ol bloke. I can not take them, or I'll go broke!") - but I'd love to go on a field trip with y'all!

That was great. If you wrote a book like that dealing with horses, my daughters would absolutely love it.

cybercat I just have to let you know: every time a read the bottom line taking into account your many animals, I just have to chuckle.
We too have chickens whose number depends on the creativity of the many stray cats and coyotes.
We do a daily head count. hehe
