Hi all - Would you mind saying a quick prayer for my little parakeet, Blue? He's been sick the past couple of days, so we've started him on antibiotics. He's an old guy - my mom got him in 1994 when she was taking a break from flying (AA Flight Attendant) to teach in Dallas, and got Blue to keep her company. When her cancer started to really take her down hill she gave him to me.
If he's ready to cross the bridge, which I don't think he is yet, I'm ready to give him back to her, but if he's not....then I'm hoping he'll feel better soon. He's almost 13 thought, which is old for a budgie. Thanks. Stacie

Jingles for the little guy.
If you need a good avian vet, check out Brian Speer(s?) in Oakley. He's great!
Best wishes.

Jingles for Blue! I grew up with a budgie named Billy who lived a long life also. They're fun little companions!

Thinking of you and Blue, and sending birdie jingles for a speedy and complete recovery.

Jingles for little Blue, hope he's feeling better. I just lost my little lovebird last week. I thought I had kept them warm enough. Her buddy was fine, but she was at the bottom of the cage in the morning.

Awe, swissgrl, I'm so sorry. I hope she went quick and just had a little heart attack.
This morning I woke up to find Blue head down, tail up...and I mean tail UP. However, he was still alive and pulled himself up when he saw me. He was also leaning against the side of the cage and hanging on w/ his beak, so I took him in to the vet expecting the worst since he is "ancient" according to the vet. Apparently whatever we're doing w/ all of our animals it's working, they live to ripe old ages.
Vet said his heart and lungs sounded fine, but he's definitely got something going on. I trust him completely, he's very honest about when it's time to send them on, or not. He felt that since Blue is doing everything he can to hang in, he thought it was worth a try to put him on heavy dose antibiotics, not the low dose stuff from the feed store. He's eating and drinking, and at the office w/ me and the puppy, so we'll see.
Your jingles must be helping, so thank you!
