I'm glad you posted those pics or I might not recognize her when I come out! Caryn and I may come together....she's never been there and it's just a hop, skip and a jump over the hills from her place. I told her not to bother w/ the long way (freeway)....I did that the last time, big mistake. I took direct route home (Morgan Terr Rd) in the dark...very scary in a Snow White lost in the forest kind of way when some jerk got on my tail, but other than that, so peaceful!

Oh Linka you are SOOOO BAAAAADDDDD!!!!! you guys... how embarassing!!! she took pics of Chewy all made up like a poodle!!!!! LOL!!! I'll put that one at the end.... Can you believe it Deb? or Blazin? or Quatzie??? yes, this IS Mistletoe!!! under all that... however, Linika found some sort of eggs on her right side... prolly lice? I don't know.... gonna go out in a few minutes and get a wormer into her, Ivermectin... that should do it. but, here she is all shaved up.... nice lookin' pony, huh??? She was such a good girl for the shave too. The splinter came right out, it was already festering... yukkoooooo... and OUCH! Here is her pretty little face... oh, and yes... she has a blankie... not that it is really cold here, down to the high 40's last night, still mid 50's right now at 10 pm... but she has a nice mid weight high neck blankie to keep her snug tonight, but got some sunshine this afternoon. maybe a nice bath tomorrow or Saturday in medicated shampoo... that will feel good too. oh well, here's your poodle pic... LOL!!!

Wowed......My husband will not believe this, ... he will think is a different animal... but I will show him all pictures of her...... a pony under all that hair.. It makes my heart warm to see these pictures... well worth the 10 - 12 hour drive time to go get her. I will make sure that the folks that made donations at my end see the before and after pictures too.. I think it will bring a smile to their face .. I just wish more people could see the beauty of the horses off the lot or rescues

The key for us for 'when' to shave is when they have skin issues under the hair, or are having problems with the fur itself. Missy had horrible mats and we could see the skin issues under the hair.... otherwise we'd just leave it, and after the pergolide gets started most of it will fall out... (when the dose is right) In and of itself, the long and/or curly hair is not a huge problem. Many of our oldsters have long hair, but we leave it unless there is a reason. Missy will be getting a nice Microtek bath tomorrow.... and some sunshine..... and THAT will really help!!
