of some of the Yakama Reservation Horses are down under the Horses Needing our Help Now section...
We (RescuesOnly BB) will be helping to try to place some of these horses as they are gathered... A large gather needs to take place as the range is over-grazed due to the large wild horse population. There is an estimate of 4500 horses on the rangeland.
If you would like to be in on the start of another new project, this one is going to need many helpers...we are just in the planning stages on this right now. If you have questions, you can post on the Yakama Reservation thread or else PM Chatty, who is representing us to the Yakama Nation.

You know.....didn't they talk at some point about rounding up and gelding all the studs on the ranges? Or as many as possible? Amy - how's the new facility working out for your horses?

I'd like to crosspost this announcement (with some of the pictures) on a private forum that is WA based. Maybe some of the other posters there could take a horse or at least help in some other way.
Is that okay with you? I promise they're all quite sane.

Ebo, Hmmm. We would like to get a web page set up and linked to the Yakama web site, but haven't done it yet. Given that, how about just posting the Yakama web address and I will send you some of these photos (tell me which ones). The Yakama web site address is: www.ynwildlife.org/wildhorses.htmJenelle

Stormlady, I went to the site, but didn't see any photos except of them running away from pursuers. I was looking for individual pix.
So, I always thought that "Yakima" was the correct spelling. Where did I run astray on that?

Eve, its OK with me if you want to post any of the comments I wrote about the Yakama Reservation Horses...and since we are just gearing up, individual pics and means of identifying the horses for potential adopters isn't quite set up yet.
And I have learned, (and Jenelle also let me know) that the Native American tribe and nation is Yakama and the local valley area is Yakima. I was reading about the reservation yesterday when I realized my mistake....so I corrected the spelling on some of the posts.
