ok so heres goes a day in the life of my son and his horses and a pic of mathew standing next to me just so you can see how big he is for a 8 year old as i am 5 foot 4
Mathews horses dont lead a hard life per say there is not a lot of hard work out just an understanding of a different boy and the way he does things. patience is sucha huge virtue in his horses which is why i went with some older one ( granny is mid 30's but as patient as they come or so i thought) but she has earned her retirement and thats why i got cj at 20 he would have many years left with mathew and to find out he is in his mid 30's. Mathew is developmentally slow and does things around the horses sometimes that he shouldn't but even after time and time of telling him not to he still does it such things like playing in the dirt at there feet with his cars so standing tied and still is so important
ok so a day that mathew goes out would be along the lines of this go get horse put halter on usually by himself ( ok so its usually twisted ( we fix when he brings them up) then he ties them and gets his grooming kit and starts grooming brushing and hoof brushing and he even picks up there feet and brushes out the bottom of there feet
then he brushes there body and even there belly
then he goes there body hairs and looks for things such as burrs sores or anything like that
Then we saddle them up and he will ride either in the round pen or the sand arena depending on what he feels comfortable doing at the time
Then he will get down and tie them up ( usually 5 mins tops is spent riding them) and either play in the dirt by them or more grooming ( depend once again on Mathews mood) then he will get up and take them for a walk in the arena or around the property

Then we will untack them and he will either groom them more or just hang out and play in the dirt with his cars and he has been known to use there feet and legs as part of his hot wheels track
Mathew usually mows yard ( manuel push mower) in the summer and spring to buy things for his horses
he is devoted and knows nothing but love no matter how many times i tell him not to do some of these things like laying on the ground at there feet if you look away to check the other kids he is right back at there feet.
Mathew has no favorite color he says he see's the love in there eyes he is a eye man he gives his horses cluco cookies daily and then also buys mint treats for other times his favorite halter bridle color is turquise and he has two or three of those in halters lead and bridles when he see's one he wants to buy it.
