If anyone wants to donate money or has a horse they got gelded check this out! This is a great program to support.
Stop-the-Backyard-Breeder Program:
REBATE AVAILABLE FOR GELDING STUD COLTS AND STALLIONS
Through the inspiration of Front Range Equine Rescue, who implemented this program in 2002, HyTyme Equine Rescue, Whispering Winds Equine Rescue & Strawberry Mountain Mustangs are teaming up with Front Range Equine Rescue’s Stop the Backyard Breeder program. To date hundreds of responsible horse owners have received partial reimbursement for the surgical expense to castrate their stud colts or stallions.
In 2005, over 94,000 unwanted horses went to slaughter; in 2006, close to 100,000 horses met this cruel fate. You can help to decrease the unwanted horse population by not allowing your stud colt(s) or stallion(s) to breed.
To participate, send a copy of your vet bill showing the cost of the castration surgery to Front Range Equine Rescue, P.O. Box 307, Larkspur, CO 80118. Be sure to mention where you received your information.
Reimbursements are based on the actual surgery cost and available funding. Current reimbursements range from $25 to $55; more is provided for cryptorchid surgeries.
Program applies to all equines, including burros and donkeys.
