The gal that is carrying the flag is one of my 4H kids..she lease's my dads old rope horse from us (yes he has both eyes)..I thought that these pictures were fitting since tomorrow is July 4th.
The little gal carrying the flag was the winner of the "most insperational" last year at fair. Below is the letter I wrote nominating her. I thought I would share..
When it comes to inspiration I look at one very special young lady. Taylor is a 12 year old girl in my 4H group, who has overcome a lot to ride with her group this year at fair. Taylor was born with congenital defects in both legs and recently went through her 4th major operation her legs. She was in a wheel chair until December and then proceeded to go through 3 months of rigorous physical therapy to not only walk again but to do what mattered most - to ride her horse! Her exact words were "if I can't ride a horse my life is over." In March of this year she got her biggest wish and that was to get back on her horse and even though she only walked in the beginning the smile on her face said a thousand words. Even in her wheel chair she would come out to the ranch and give her favorite girl "Nellie" carrots and love. Now it's August and Taylor with much determination, practice and true love for 4H has enrolled in showmanship, western equitation and all of the gaming events. Does she care about winning ribbons? Nope, ribbons are just an extra perk. Her real award is just being here with her 4H group and riding her best friend Nellie. Every time I see Taylor either in the arena, barn or parking lot, she has a smile on her face, helpful to her other 4h members and has a positive attitude. Taylor has inspired me more than I can put into words. She is someone that I admire greatly!
