Status: Adopted Price: 775 Arrived: 4/27/2006 Age: Height: 15.1hh Weight: Gender: Mare Primary Color: Bay Secondary Color: White Type: Riding Breed: Paint Registration: Registerable Condition: Good Temperament: Training: 7 yrs old, 15.1hh Bay and White paint mare, can be papered. This is a beautiful mare that has a lovely trot. Once caught she is responsive in the halter and we were told this mare had been shown in hand before but do not think she was broke to ride. Her feet are in need of care. She is somewhat nervous in the alleys, but in the lot itself was calmer and followed us for grain and sniffed us, etc. Cannot see much wrong with her!! Very lovely mare with a long life ahead of her. Please contact Heidi Antonie for more information.

Just an update on DMM ..she's FINALLY settling in, coming up to the fence to say hello, sticking around for some pets and talking to <well, when her sister Dixie let's her, that is >, she's calling for her dinner <quite lady like>, and not spooking so much. We've worked some halter and showmanship basics when the weather allows. After all "Whoa" is usually a good thing to be trained in . Still won't use the run in shed, but she will eat her dinner out of the bucket on the fence with a dreaded blanket hanging right there This was taken last week

Thanks, Lisa !! She is turning into quite the "chunky monkey", what a butt !!!! AND we are allowing people into our "space" when we're chowing down, almost no ear pinning now, which is a plus. She did have a weird look on her face the other night when I picked up some hay and made like I was going to eat it, though ;D I can't wait for the warmer weather, so I can start working with her in hand some more.

Quick update.. DMM had a touch of colic yesterday morning. Munched down her now beloved Omolene, then had no interest in her hay ..laid down for a while, up, down, etc. Not fidgety, just wasn't the Matisse that we've all come to love and know 2 hours later, she was walking about and munching hay, and had pooped, so the crisis was kinda over. I attribute this to a warmer weather change over the 2 days prior. By the afternoon, she was coverting with the gedlings over the fence, and avoiding the persitant attention of her sister, who kept her moving most of the PM With held grain Wednesday Pm & Thursdat AM, she got 1/3 of her ration this evening, and we'll slowly build back up....ofcourse, it 's going to get cold again, and snow, so we could go thru this again But, on the plus side, I now have more "DMM history" to go on Pics forthcoming, probably this weekend !

Good to know more about how your horse reacts to changes. How is DMM doing these days? I think of her often now, of course, since Mahan has taken over....errr...moved into, our lives.

Glad to hear Mr Mahan is taking over..errrr settling in , Lisa . DMM is doing well. She now has a companion for dinner and the evenings. A friends palomino paint needs some socialization lessons, so during the evenings <Dixie is usually stalled at night, spoiled little witch ;D> it's Callie & Matisse hanging out. Ofcourse Callie did try to get DMM's pile of hay, but after a quick flick of the ears, and a glance in her direction from Matisse, Callie decided that hanging out by her pile of hay was a good idea Callie was getting to big for her britches <she's coming on 4> and DMM needed a break from being #2 all of the time, so it works out well. I might add that Matisse is quite the fuzz bucket, think on the "wooly mammoth" style She's liking the brush and curry, though, and she loves her "Uncle Joe" who brings her in closer to the barn at night with Dixie <Dixie is on a lead, DMM is not> when I am at Jack's barn, and she just walks right along, on the other side of Joe. Waits patiently for Dix to go in the gate, then hangs out until she knows the grub is coming, then never stops talking ;D

Thanks for the DMM compliment P !!! Right now, I'll be honest... I don't know if DMM will ever be under saddle. She has MANY trust issues, and is slowly coming around. I had originally hoped to have her at local shows, just showing in hand this year. I doubt that will happen, as she has major fears just walking thru the barn to the arenas and round pen on the other side from where she is. Right now, I just want to get her through the barn, and ger her into turn out near these areas. That's our current goal. My personal gut opinion is that she had it real good, and things got bad real fast. And now she doesn't know what to do, or who to trust. My mission.... fix that

Quick update. The Divine Ms M is doing fine. The brush and shedding blade are our friend, and the face brush is "the bomb" !! Pics taken Saturday : And I'm looking for the original pic of her feet at Tina's, but if you remember, they were pretty rough. In 1 year her feet have grown this much, with 2 trimmings, 1 at Tinas and 1 here. BUT, you can see where the nutrion is kicking in **ETA Her feet last year: Her feet now. She's a "slow grower"

Hee hee... that is the "gauntlet" feeder, Lisa, right where we set it up ;D If there was any total panic, she had room to escape, but was driven to get to her dinner by an "inner calling" Matisse is very food oriented

Ms Matisse, today... she wanted to be with me, followed me around for 30 minutes, wanting attention, and just to be close. Luckily her sister Dixie was wanting lunch, so 1 on 1 time with DMM was easy Matisse was more intune with me, than lunch, which suprised me... usually, I'm 3rd or 4th banana We had a barn emergency else where, so no one was around to help w/pics, so this is the best I could do as far as DMM & I. Stole the idea from a good friend ;D DMM has come a long way with trust issues, to follow me around, and WANT to be with me was a huge step. I felt honored , proud of what we have accomplished, and am looking forward to getting a freaking blanket on her Too be continued ................

Heee hee... it was dark at dinner time.. Ms Matisse was quite vocal about "waiting her turn" She's coming around. Thank you to everyone that had something to do with getting her to me/had interaction with her...Tina, Jackie, Lisa, Laura, Jenny, Jim & Sherry <major kudos>, and ofcourse Heidi, for not giving up on her. She IS a challenge, and will be for some time. But, she ain't going no where
