-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9 year old Paint Gelding, no papers, gentle, great trailhorse. He poked his eye on a russian Olive tree & is blind in it. He has been sitting doing nothing for about a year. My horseshoer owns this horse & will haul him to Chucks on Friday if I can't place him somewhere. He is hauling him to Chuck because he doesn't want anyone kids riding a horse that is blind in one eye & possibly getting hurt. The only reason that he is giving me a opportunity to place this horse is I promised that I would make sure no one put kids on him. He wants $300 for him. I am getting a picture of him tonight to post.

I went & got some pictures of this horse today. He is a crop out paint, with no papers. I guess the previous owners wouldn't release them. Anyway..here are his pictures. He is extremely friendly, so friendly infact I had to take all of the pictures thru the fence, because he wouldn't leave me alone when I went in his pen. IF anyone is interested PLEASE PLEASE email me...tufnspendy@aol.com Thank you

Juliane's got a one-eyed rescue horse, Buddy, that just had his eye removed. Pictures and procedures are on her website, Serenity Training. Very successful procedure and not all that expensive as far as vet expenses go. This guy is definitely worth saving.

I talked to my shoer, he really isn't interested in letting Heart take the horse, because he doesn't feel the horse needs to be a rescue...I do think I can brow beat him into if I have to...but what I didn't realize is that he isn't taking the horse to Chuck, CHuck is PICKING the horse up...either today or tomorrow...he thinks tomorrow...I think he would even consider a offer on the horse....

Gack, that's a horrible name ;D He had his eye injured from an olive branch right?
The olive tree has been the symbol of wisdom and peace. The olive tree was the sacred tree of goddess Athena and Athens, the capital of Greece, took its name from the goddess. Zeus had decreed that the city should be given to the god who offered the most useful gift to the people. Poseidon gave them the horse. Athena struck the bare soil with her spear and caused an olive tree to spring up. The people were so delighted with the olive that Zeus gave the city to Athena and named it after her. Athena is often shown with an olive branch, a symbol of peace and plenty.

MARC WILL TAKE THIS HORSE! (Thank God I read messages on paper that are left on the kitchen counter.) Leo, we will need to arrange for transport - perhaps down here with Brunhilda? And I vote we change his name ... Shooter was bad enough, but Sh!tter? That is horrible. I vote for Oliver, in memory of Oliver Balboa who fought such a fight with the undying help of Chel and Deb, and paying tribute to the olive tree that took his sight from one eye, but undoubtedly will give him so much more in the long run. If there are any other suggestions, offer them up to the gods and we will await their response. THANK YOU, LEOSOLIS, RODEO51, MUSTANG1, EIRUALAERDNA, WENDYP, PEC, MARC, AND EVERYONE WHO HAS SAVED THIS BOY FROM THE FEEDLOT AND CERTAIN DEATH. (This is the best birthday present a gal could ask for!)

He will be a lucky ducky soon, I hope, Cyberkitty. It's funny, too, that Dean posted about Greek mythology regarding his name as Marc has Hera and Hyacinth. I have been calling this one-eyed boy either Oliver or Martini (Martin or Marty for short), but I think something Greek may be more fitting. I am plum out of creative ideas for the day, however. I will keep you posted as I learn more about his journey home ...

Westley. That should be his name. Princess Buttercup is missing the sight in her left eye, also. (See photo below.) This sweet boy just seems like an "As you wish" kind of fellow. We would be carrying on the tradition of the Princess Bride. I vote for Westley.

This horse is slowly gaining a little weight, he is a real sweetie. He is doing good after our colic scare with him last weekend. He and our Mini teaser pony "afro the fluffer" are best buddies, they look hilarious together, fluffer stands at this guys knee caps..LOL
He still needs a ride from Kennewick wa, to Tireddog...anyone headed that way please let one of us know..

I posted this on the transport thread but I figured I'd post it here too. Just wanted to let everyone know Lori delivered Westley this afternoon, safe and sound. Thanks Lori! He has already settled in with our two ex-CBER girls, Hera and Hyacinth. He looks so much like Hera from a distance that I have a hard time telling the two apart unless I can see their manes or faces. His mane is a bit lighter than hers, and his blaze is a bit smaller than hers and he has that white spot on his nose. He's about the same size as Hera too. The only other way to tell them apart from a distance is that he is not down in his pasterns the way Hera is. He and Hyacinth move nicely, whereas it's clear poor Hera has problems. I took a bunch of pics with my cellphone but I can't get them transfered to my computer at this point. My new computer does not have bluetooth yet, and the phone has no cable port.
