Appaloosa Horse Club of America? Dazzler (Pop Corn) is white, I am not sure a freeze brand on him would show, but I am going to take a close look when I get him home. They are built a lot a like. I am also going to check for a lip tatoo.

May want to check for microchips, you two. Anyone who bothered to freeze brand with a breed registry may well have microchipped too.

Yeah, the vet here is going to scan Dazzler when I take him in for his float. Have you had any luck with names? I didn't have a choice, there just isn't anything else you can call a horse that makes you see pattern after you close your eyes....

I love the name Dazzler. It is perfect for your guy. I haven't come up with anything yet. My niece likes Dreamer (ugh...) We're playing with Churro, but I'm not sold yet.

My Brian thought Dazzler was a dumb name. When I asked him what I should call him, he said "Fred." So, don't ask any advice about names from my husband! I think he looks like cream dusted with cinnamon and lightly stirred. I don't know what you would call that in one word, but that is what his coat makes me think of.

Hmmm... we also thought of Cinnamon. But Deb says he needs a strong name. We also thought of Mocha Latte. I think we were hungry when we were thinking of the names. Maybe Cinnamon Swirl

Well, that is a pretty wild coat, what about Cimmeron? It means wild in Spanish.

Well, on a good note.... I heard yesterday that Cimmeron may be a gaited Appy. Can't wait to find THAT out! That would be an added bonus for my old knees

Ahem, that is called the Appaloosa Shuffle, or Indian Shuffle, and it was almost bred out of them a while back, because it didn't follow the proper gaits expected in the Western Pleasure show ring....

Well interestingly..... and another example of "small world" ...
I contacted a person in Washington State who does freeze brands to see if he could help with reading the brand. I send him pictures of the brand and Cimmeron to see if he could ID in his records. Turns out he sure could... because he was the original breeder of him!
Cimmeron is 1/2 Appy, 1/2 Missouri Fox Trotter. Registered name is Reno's Mr. Slick (uh... I'm sticking with MY name!)
Such a small world.... or small state, whatever. Isn't that amazing?

Incredible!

He had not heard who owned him since 1994. Mostly he was just glad to know he had me.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE him ;D Not just any flowers, he prefers Cosmo Daisies Didn't touch the others LOL. He is SO funny, I have never met a horse with such a personality (horseality?) Loves kids, loves people, and always had his nose stuck in something. He'd be grazing away and all of a sudden his head would pop up and he'd go gaitin over to something, sniff at it like a pig, snarfles and all, satisfy his curiousity until next time ;D Rocket is a very sweet boy, too. And very handsome. You guys got a couple of really good ones, thanks for letting me care for them mta - and Beth brought me some gorgeous Mums, thank you so much. I love them

Argh! I was so worried about Dazzler I forgot to post!
Cimmeron arrived fine after a l-o-n-g ride home, got here about 11:00 last night. The boys got a bowl of pellets with a bit of bute, and spent the night in our back yard. The only flat place on our property!
So last night was a bit late, a bit scary in the dark for them both. But this morning he showed his personality... curious about everything, nuzzling the dogs, and settling in fine.
HOPEFULLY the farrier will get out in the next day or two, then he'll be much better. I can't WAIT to get him in the arena and try out a ride!
Peg

Poor Cimmeron... such a spooky guy The past two evenings my 13 year old niece has been on him bareback (no halter, no bridle, no nuttin') and riding him around our back yard using leg commands only. He's such a good boy! I can't wait to get on him myself, but I think I'll use a saddle, etc. Peg
