Bell (Available) Age: 20 Height: 15'2 Sex: Mare Breed: American Quarter Horse x - Adoption Fee: $460.00 Contact Placement Specialist ~ Shawna: tufnspendy@aol.comBell (her original name) is a nice mare, been used for 4H, she clips, bathes & loads easily. She has PLENTY of go left in her. She has a big knee that looks bad, but she wasn't unsound on it at all. She came in from a private party. This mare is very responsive & likes to go..would suggest a intermediate rider.

Please someone take this mare...I KNOW this mare, she needs a nice forever home....if I had property and didn't need to board my horses, I would take her. I'm so very sad to see her at the kill buyer lot.

Can you post more info about her? Exactly what she was used for? How well trained is she? Temperament? Any additional information could help her get a new home.............
Thanks for caring.......

I have to be honest here....I was horrified to see her listed here and wish I had the funds, property etc. to take her back. I purchased this horse for my daughter 3 years ago from a private party in Prosser, WA. The lady in Prosser took her from her aunt's house (I think it was her aunt), anyway, the horse wasn't being taken care of and so this lady took her in, evaluated her and sold her to me as a children's horse. Her name was Jezebel and my daughter and I hated it. We renamed her Bell. Bell is NOT a beginner's horse at all and that was what I was looking for. I had her for almost 1.5 years trying to work with her to make her a child's horse. We had hoped to use her for 4H and a trail horse. I boarded her with the lady that taught my daughter to ride. This lady used her for gaming at the Sheriff's Posse Day. Bell knows the barrels, poles, etc., she is a great gaming horse and has TONS of get up and go. She is a very nice horse and not spooky at all. She is well mannered on the ground, but knows when she is around a less confident with horses person. I think she would be perfect as a move up horse for an intermediate confident rider. My daughter was a beginner rider and lacked the confidence so Bell would crow hop in place with her (like a rocking horse)if she didn't want to do what my daughter asked her to do. This frightened my daughter and the cycle started. I tried to ride Bell as well, but I hadn't ridden for close to 10 years so my confidence level wasn't there either and Bell sensed that right away and behaved the same for me. I thought I had found her the perfect home after trying to place her for a year, but I guess it didn't work out afterall. I sold her to a lady out of Ephrata who purchased her for her 11 year old daughter. I warned her that I didn't feel Bell was a children's horse, but she insisted that her daughter was a advanced rider and they would get along just fine. Please...someone needs to take her, the thought of her becoming food is horrible.

Do you have any idea why her knee is "big"? If it was big prior to your having her do you know if she was ever unsound on it?

When I had her she had a large egg sized knot on the knee, but was totally sound, never had a problem with it at all. I did have it checked by an equine veterinarian and he told me it was an old injury and wasn't a problem to her. When she sheds out, she is a liver chestnut and there is a scar on the same shoulder as the knot on her knee. The scar isn't one of the hairless ones, it is totally covered and you can't really see it unless you are grooming her. She does have a brand on her left shoulder area, but I was never able to trace it. You can't see the brand when she has her winter coat.

I spoke today with the lady that gave my daughter riding lessons and who we use to board with and she is willing to take her if we can raise her bail and she maybe doesn't have to do the QT. My friend is more than able to do the QT, but I know the rules and know why they are in place. If I could get the funds to help pay her bail and her QT, I would be able to take her. Robin wants to give her a FOREVER home!! I'm able to put $100 towards her bail or QT, but it will be pushing my horse funds. Thanks everyone!

Sue, can you put in $100.00? If yes, and Tash offered $100.00. I will contribute $100.00 to get her save. That means we need $160.00 to make her bail. This can be done ladies!!!!!!!
Let's get Bell back home where she belongs, and has a little girl that can love on her.
