We need bail and home for her.
I've made some private appeals, but have not received any reply - yes or no.
tncowboy - in the midst of his aggrevation to bring down his girls - had previously indicated a willingness to donate stall space to one rescue horse provided all her other costs were covered and provided I "ran point" on making sure she was provided for. He will feed and muck and work with her. (I'd help with the working. Okay, I'd help with the mucking too.) It would take 5 or 6 responsible people who would be willing to pledge funds for up to 12 months. (Probably much less, she looks like she doesn't have any major problems - just a big belly, and she appears broke to ride) Plus, I have a horse that may be coming down in a few months and is going to need that stall, so I'm motivated!
what would be needed:
$700 bail
$400 transport - we've learned our lesson about relying on the less expensive transport. We need enough to cover commercial transport in case we have to go that route. This is the least expensive quote I've received in trying to bring China and/or Sunrise down. (two diff quotes since they are two diff locations)
$150 QT for 30 days (if anyone, close to the lot OR close to I-5, can donate space for cost of feed that would be even better)
$50 for coggins, vet, misc expenses while in QT. (Hopefully less, but should allow for it.
So - $1300 to get her off and down here, then..
A firm commitment for $300 month average for feed, farrier, and small allowance for routine vet care. (Things are expensive here, but it is a fantastic horse market) If it was a BIG vet bill, we'd probably come back to the board and ask for help like anyone else does who needs major help. Let's hope it isn't necessary. I'm thinking 5 ot 6 people at $50 a month. That's an easy enough number of people to stay connected to.
The goal would be to get her off the lot, QT, brought down to this market, assessed, worked, healthy and find a loving, responsible, appropriate home. (If it works well, it can be a prototype)
The sponsership team would get regular weekly updates with pics. We're both really accessible, so anyone wants to come see her - no problem. Pretty central, located midway between San Francisco and San Jose and close off the freeway. The sponsers would also get a detailed accounting of how the money was being spent. Everything would be out in the wide open.
This would not be a CBER foster. CBER would have no legal responsibility for the horse or it's financial needs. It's a risk for both of us, cause if the support team bailed we'd obviously make sure she was cared for, but it's a risk we're willing to take. If you "sign up" please make sure you think you can follow through. I'm estimating a max of 12 months, because we could get some surprises, but I think it's necessary to put an "end" point on it. I would expect that she could be rehomed in a matter of 3-4 months if she doesn't have any major problems.
What do you think? Anyone up for it? We need to have the whole enchilada to come together by this time tomorrow afternoon so we can get her out of harm's way before the truck. She is at very high risk. She's been there awhile. She's large (good meat price). She's not pg. You can pm me and/or post here.

Suede pledge-ers you have pm
Just to clarify to everyone else - we ARE trying to put together a sponsership prototype, but for now Suede has a home offer from pec yet still needs $275 bail to get her off the lot.
While all horses are at risk (esp given FLO comment that he will ship all who are still on the lot), if he ends up picking and chosing, Suede will be high on the list: she's been there awhile, she's very heavy and will bring a high meat price. She's broke to ride. While ALL the horses deserve better, this is one that can probably be rehab'd and rehomed quickly and make room for another horse in the near future.
Thank you piopico, nancik, librarybarb, and watermark farm for pledges. And, pec for home offer.
edited to add: thank you jellybelly for QT offer. I think we have her covered, but I'll let you know if it changes!
Can we get her the rest of the way?
