MACE NEEDS A HOME!!!!
Sweet 16.2 hand, 11 year old TB, Jockey Club registered, and was Breeder's Cup Nominated. Registered name is Told Ya So, papers available.
BROKE BROKE BROKE!!! His rescuer does not consider any horse 100% bomb proof, but he is pretty unflappable. When he sees something scary he doesn't bolt or flip out. Has never bucked, bolted, reared, kicked, pulled back, cribbed. The only thing he DOESN'T like is someone blowing in his nose! He stands to mount. Walks, trots, lopes, backs up, stops. Uncomplicated to ride, good trail horse. Clips, ties, trailers, stands for the farrier and vet.
He went to a dressage/jumping trainer to see if he would be a good show prospect, but isn't. He doesn't have the right conformation for the required moves. She said he would make a good husband or safe lesson horse, or for someone just looking to ride in and out of the arena, but no advance through the levels in showing.
She was asking $2,000-2,500 but the price is negotiable to the right home; this is to pay board on him and give the trainer something for the time she put in on him. He's been ridden regularly for the past 2 months and is ready for his new home. References WILL be required. Since I'm an apps processor for CBER, I would be asking for the same information while assisting Jen to find this horse a great home.
On a side note - I'm usually a QH/Paint gal myself and leery of race bred TB's but this guy is great. Mace is coming back to our barn this weekend...I've ridden him once, and will be riding him part time until a home is found. He is a sweetheart!!!!! (and if hubby would okay 2, not 1, I wouldn't be posting this ad for Jen)
How Mace came to be with Jen initially...
"To look at him he SEEMED okay, until you actually looked closer. He was a little under weight, and never left his paddock. During the winter the paddocks FLOOD and the barn owners do not clean…AT ALL. So he was standing in thick, soupy mud/poop to the point you could not see his legs half way up to his knee. His feet had 4 shoes but had not been done in AT LEAST 6 months, maybe more. My farrier knows the guy who did his feet last, and when he asked him about it the guy said he hadn’t seen that horse in over 6 months. His teeth were in horrendous shape and he had really bad ground manners from lack of contact. Because of his poor nutrition(the barn did not feed quality hay) and his lack of foot care, he developed an abscess which his owner refused to treat, this abscess was one of the worst I have seen. It blew out in 5 places, and he was lame for a few months. I took over his care, and once I received the paperwork that he was legally mine, I had him vaccinated(guy didn't remember the last time is was done) had the vet look over his legs and feet, cured the abscess and put him to pasture to heal up for 4 months. "
That was then....
This is now:
