Joe left this morning for his new home. He was scared to leave his pony buddy, but went right in the trailer like a good boy. It is so sad to see my daughter's dream horse go away for ever, but it is nice to know he is going to a good home where he will have a blind horsey friend and lots of kids to pay attention to him.
How can animals trust us so much? What courage does it take to be taken away from all you know and to be unable to even see what is in front of you, yet follow willingly?
For those of you that didn't see Joe's thread when he was in the header, he is my 13-year-old daughter's gaming, parade, trail, 4H buddy that went blind last summer. My daughter has anxiety disorder and depression and Joe has been wonderful therapy and a great friend. Our pasture cannot be made safe for a blind horse as it is in the mountains. We have been devastated.
Thank you for your help. Brigette

Thank you for caring so much and doing what was best for Joe. These decisions IMO fan out and inform our lives. May you have soon a horse that will fill up your hearts and be just right for your daughter.

Joe is home after almost a 500 mile, 2 day trip. He was afraid to come out of the trailer, but finally jumped out. His new people are very happy with him and led him all over before they put him in his new paddock. He seemed to be happy and secure. After a couple of days they will intro his new horse friend. Joy!

Oh, I do hope that Joe will be happy and able to adjust to his new home. Thank God there are people who have the proper facilities for animals with this type of challenge.
