UPDATE: THIS HORSE HAS BEEN LOCATED!
FROM THE OWNER:
We were boarding our horse with Jean Elledge in her Monroe pasture at "sleepy valley farm".
We saw the news story about her starving horses on this property and we promptly went out to check on our quarter horse filly. All the horses are gone. We have been trying to locate her since and are having no luck. Everyone involved is very tight lipped and no one has given us any useful information. We just want to know if she is even still alive!
It breaks our hearts to think we trusted Jean with our beloved horse and now she may be starved or even worse she may have perished! We have heard that others are looking for their horses too. Please contact us. We may have information you need or you may have the missing link we are looking for! If you happen to have information on the whereabouts of these horses please e-mail. She is very missed! Thanks!

I'm checking with Geri. She has some of the horses and has seen some of the others. Might be able to help this gal locate her.

When the owners gave an interview to the press they told the reporter that they hadn't bothered to check on the mare for 2 or 3 months! The horse could have been long gone before the other's were rescued. Perhaps the authorities feel the owners were negligent in not checking on their horse and that's why they're stone-walling them... perhaps the authorities are right. The best advice you can give them is to find a competent attorney.

And I feel guilty when I miss 1 or 2 days of not going out to the barn! I can't imagine not seeing my horses for over 2 months...incredible! I do hope they find their horse though....maybe this will be their wakeup call. Hope the horse is ok....

I would have to be in the hospital tied to the bed and dying before my horse was not seen by me. I always have a friend, and back up when I am gone on vacation. Even when I had a broken foot I still feed my horses and helped with the stalls.
I hope she does get her horse back, maybe the light went on!!! to be a better owner... I see this all the time, put the horse in full care and walk away..... ... I wish horses came with a owners manual...

I feel guilty only getting to go see my horse 1 time a week. I think if I went longer than that I'd go crazy!
And then loosing your horse on top of that?....I hope they find her in perfect condition very very soon.

If anyone is in contact w/ the owner, please encourage them to file a police report on the theft and sale - it could make a lot of difference in ultimately stopping the woman who starved theses horses from ever having large animals again.

I wonder what 'vet bills he incurred'...? and she is 'not too thin'... scary. also scary that the woman got away with false 'sales' of horses to get them hidden and off the property before the seizures...
