The United Pegasus Foundation has been rescuing thoroughbreds off local racetracks for the last 10-12 years. Most remain at the ranch, retired due to injuries. Some are rehabbed, if necessary, and available for adoption. About 5-6 years ago UPF also began rescuing PMU's from Canada. The founder has taken in approx 200 foals a year, and been instrumental in placing hundreds more at other rescues across the country. They have two ranch locations - Hemet & Tehachapi. www.unitedpegasus.com/

I got my first horse, Sundancer, from UP in Hemet. He is a total LOVE BUG! They had many 2 year olds at the time. I made several visits to their Hemet ranch (with carrots) before deciding on him. They also have a lot of draft horses and crosses. Some very nice horses are there.
I have also visited their Tehachapi location.
Very nice people. You may have to call several times to get them, as they are out feeding the horses!
