You know, I could never figure out why my horses didn't eat more than about 2 flakes a day.
Then Quatzie was looking at my corral and pasture the other day, and she said, "You would not believe the calories out there." I guess two horses on about 6 acres works out to a lot more than one would expect.
Still, mine are chubby bubbies. If my horse looked like Miss Bella, I think I'd change their regimen~!!!!

Well she is getting ready to go on a good size pasture, lots of grass, but I have to get her used to it first. I put her in my backyard fenced area that is supposed to be for the dogs, but they don't go in it cause they dig, and she got the runny poos so bad that I had to take her out. This is the first horse that hasn't been able to just go to the good side of the fence right off the bat!! Guess that's why I am going through so much hay, at this rate, I am going to have to sell my shoes and everything else just to support her!!

I vote for Probiotics... they will repopulate her gut with good bacteria needed to digest without the squirts...

Bella is doing awesome!! Her scabs are starting to flake off more, Going to be giving her a sponge bath here soon, or might take her to a barn to use the washrack that way we have warm water. I took her blanket off today, since it is so warm here, she really likes to follow you around, and if you stop, she stops. If she gets too far ahead of you, she stops and waits. It was nice to get a big horsey hug this morning to go along with her little baby talk that she does. I can't believe that she was just thrown away like that!! I am soooo in love with this girl, it isn't funny!!

Thank you so much Kidz!! She is doing so awesome, just makes my heart flutter to think about what she is going to look like all fat and happy! I am guessing she is a dark liver chestnut, with black mane with chrome. WHOO she is going to be one hot filly!!

Well it has been a week already since Miss Bella came here, and WOW what a difference!! She has already gained some good weight, and with the awesome stuff that Kidz sent us, her skin is getting better FAST!! About 50% of the scabs have come off and the hair is growing in like mad. She loves all the attention and treats from friends that come over. I am getting the back pastures ready and today she is going to be back there on LOTS of grass now that she is used to having it. She stands in the stall most of the day, guessing she has been stalled all her life. I am so happy that she is here with us, she truely is a Diamond in the Rough!!

Actually the weird thing is the hair where it was burned is coming in alot DARKER than she is. I thought I was going to have a little filly that everyone would think was an appy, but it is coming in really dark. She is a med/dark chestnut and the new hair that is coming in is chocolate!!! I will take pics today of her in her new pasture. Whew that is work!!

She looks awsome !! Will she be rideable further down the road. I know nothing about her injury but my question is will she be sore on her back because of what happened to her. Just curious. She does look like a new horse. Thank you for saving her ;D

She is a little tender backed, but getting better everyday. I message her back with a soft rubber curry, and a brush that is a little stiffer than a face brush. She is getting better everyday. Almost all of her scabs are gone, the hair is growing in awesome, and where she was clipped is starting to come back too. I see her being fine for riding in about a month, and we will see where she is training wise. I was told they rode her, but I have gotten 5 different stories about her so who knows. Anyone bold enough to come try her out in about 30 days?

You have an absolute beautiful girl there!! Even with her skin issues etc she is stunning. I love her color. I bet it is even better when she is not body clipped. Congrat on your gorgeous find. I am glad you could save her.

Is it just me or does anyone else see TB in her also? I was told she is 100% quarterhorse, but I see TB there. huh, maybe just me?

She is gorgeous, great job at getting her to look so much better.
I have all my horses on Forco now. Merlin gets the runs sometimes, not sure if it is the change of weather/season, it's not the food, as I'm not changing anything there. But since he's been on the Forco, it clears up in 2 days.

I'm loving the Forco now too, my old stallion actually gained some weight with it! he's always lean... and no topline, but with this he's filled in the top some!
I didn't think of it for my mare who gets the runs, I 'm gonna try that! thanks swissy!

She has been a lot better with the runs lately, hardly at all. She has really adjusted well here, and now that she is in the back with everyone else, she is really starting to chow down. She was lonely up by herself, and didn't seem to eat too much, but now she is on lots of grass, and chowing!! She also has a boyfriend back there now, a 16.1 hh 1600lb quarterhorse!! He is HUGE!!! I will get pics of them nose kissing today I hope.

Well, my plans for pics fell through, but I am trying to get some!! She has lost all her scabs, and getting fatter by the day! She is finally up to eating 2 flakes morning and night with no leftovers, she was really lonely up here by herself and didn't eat all of her hay, but now she is being a little pigggy!

Ok finally new pics. These are after 17 days here. Wow, I look at before and after and still can't believe how well she has responded to everything. She is doing so awesome, that I am just uplifted by her spirit. Here are those pics!! Date stamp on camera is wrong. I should fix that!! Bella and her boyfriend Sonny (believe it or not, he is a full quarterhorse!! 16hh and 1450 lbs!)
