Being as I have too big a heart and am crazy I am expanding my facilities and opening for additional rescue and recovery.
My private rescue of my NSH mare Bright 'n Breezy has encouraged me to help more. Bree has recovered beautifully, had her surgery and healed well, and her feet are finally coming around.
We are calling it Lone Oak Rescue after the single old oak that remains on the property. It's strength reminds me of these horses that still somehow hang on despite months and sometimes years of neglect. I might not be able to do as much as others but I will have approx 3 acres for pasture, a 6 stall barn and 4 corrals and feed and tack sheds.
I am doing most of the work myself so is going to take some time, but the addition to the barn is under construction now, as well as the pasture and additional corrals. I have a great vet, and a wonderful farrier and trainer to work with. We are submitting for NP registration so it's known we are legitimate. Most of the funding will be from myself, but we are more than happy to accept donations of money, supplies or items you think might be of use, the wish list is available if interested. (I cannot give tax receipts until registration is approved and we have a number issued to us) I have numerous items that will be available for sale to help raise moneys. An account and PayPal are also being established in the name of the rescue. I will keep posting info as things come together and some pics too. Until the website is up you can email at loneoakrescue@yahoo.com for info.
Just wanted to share, now time to get back to work on that barn .
