My husband just called me and told me there were two cattle trucks, and two stock trailers with signs on them that said Free horses these are going to slaugther stop the driver or get on their web site. They were on I-5 here in California heading south. So I can only imagine they are going to Mexico. Does anyone know of the group that you can contact about these horses or future horses. The only part of the address he saw was www.horse he couldn't see what the rest said.Anyone interested in the horses can stop the driver they are on I-5 they were in Stockton this morning. They are probably in BAkersfield by now.

Oh how sad.... At least they are given 1 last chance to get them out of there by offering them off the truck. I pray that people will help them. I would completely fall apart if I saw that truck.

I'm wondering now too, if that might be a joke on horse rescuers, knowing that these horses didn't get saved and rubbing it in their faces. I just had that thought. ANything is possible.

I would just die if I saw that. On the way to work this morning I saw 5 empty slaughter trucks headed east to Coeur d' Alene. Never seen so many. I'm having trouble dealing with all this again.
I watched a little bit of an Arabian horse show this weekend and the horses were drop dead gorgeous and were performance champions. But, alas, I seem to have lost my joy. Rescue/feedlot/slaughter thoughts kept creeping in and I wondered how many of them would fall into the wrong hands and end up at a feedlot and on a slaughter truck.
It may be time for me to take another break. I know times are hard for all kinds of reasons. But, these animals have companioned with man and a slaughter death is the best we can do as their human caretakers? There's just something wrong with that.

I wonder too. But people should think about that before they give away their horses for free, to a "good" home. I am willing to bet that this is exactly what happens to many free horses. It is very sad indeed.

I hope it's not a joke, that would just be sick...... Just as sick as shipping them.
