Yes, but he is only 10 months. There is a chance that it will still drop. And I can promise you that it wouldn't be that much here. My vet quoted me $750. He is too far away for me, though. That trip to get him would be almost as much as the surgery.

So right... he is not EXPECTED to have both testicles down now... you have to give him time... next year, you could do the big surgery if needed... but might just drop... what a great mix... who thought of this one? or, did the stray horses all get loose???

Link has been removed.........but wasn't there another 'Heinz57' colt like this a few weeks ago?? What the heck are people thinking- if in fact the breeding was intentional?

I have a colt at Davis, if they have to scope and go looking to the retained Teste then it is about 1700 if it is just under the skin is about 750-800. and Davis is usually cheaper, they don't do it standing, the put them under for abdominal surgery they can't sedate heavy enough for it to be a standing procedure.

Does anyone know if this colt is still available? Does anyone have any contact info of any kind to the owner? Anyone have a photo of the colt? I'd love to see what he looks like.

I got quoted approx. $2,500 for crypt surgery down here in SoCal. Just depending on extensive the "search" is.

Mine was going to do Chester for $1200 but we thought one was down and one was missing. Turned out to be just REALLY proud cut thankfully so that was that.
Also it CAN drop until 3! Chester didn't get his lump until 3, and I have had two colts that dropped a retained testicle at 3 (a BS paint, and Beth's rescue pony Riley dropped BOTH at 3)
Dreamer/Feather did it too. One testicle last fall, 2 this spring. I would rather wait then rush to do surgery so long as you can manage to keep them confined. The ones we were waiting for weren't really rank in my experience.
People get nervous if they aren't there at 6 months.
