the quarter crack/fake foot really irk me... but I guess after this one race, he's good to go on never having to work on those sore feet again... just wish it was that the genetic faults of rotten feet weren't so 'ho hum', and puttied over... but bred for more and more and MORE babies with bad feet... but strong butts...
he IS beautiful... and fast doesn't even come close... pray his feet and his bones hold up just ONE more time... when is the race?

He's sound as can be on them and bones are good. I think he'll take it by a long shot and pray he'll live the cushy life that they all deserve!

I hope he comes through the race safely, and I so want to see a Triple Crown winner in my lifetime. It just takes some excitement from the accomplishment to know that he has been on steroids in the past. I know that they probably all are, but still it would be nice to know that he is such a powerhouse on his own God given talent and not being enhanced by steroids or other medications. I will be glued to my TV hoping for a good race and celebrating the Triple Crown of Big Brown. I hope they all come home safely.

WOW! Da'Tara!!!! has won! I can't believe this: when I watched the lineup and I saw Da/Tara's style of prancing and dancing movement, which I love!, I thought to myself "Now that is the kind of style and soul that will win,"....WOW!!!!!
So now they are scratching their heads over Big Brown not winning...he didn't have steroids in his system any more (last shot was April 15th), soooo....I wonder how many others in the race had steroids in them today??? Anyone know? Are the steroids allowed in the Belmont?
I think that if some of the horses did have steroids today and some did not, then, that does not seem like a fair race....! I wish a law/regulation would be passed, though, banning steroids in racehorses and, well, any horse! The side effects are not good at all.

BIG surprise! A nicely run race and I am thrilled to see a caring owner and jockey who made the decision to pull him up.
They all have good days and bad days. That's racing!

I'm sorry Big Brown didnt win, however I did say my prayer before the race to keep them all safe. I have a pic of Big Brown on my work computer screen and a non horsey co-worker asked, Is that your horse?...lol

I was satisfied with the outcome of the race - all safe and sound (somewhat). I have say that I have been watching the Triple Crown series for many, many years and it's interesting to note (in MHO) that those who brag the loudest and/or are the most obnoxious get set down. I didn't really like that his connections seemed more interested in money and that his trainer couldn't or wouldn't respect the 11 horses that had won before. I think Big Brown was just plain tired. Hope Three Chimneys treats him right and he doesn't quietly "disappear".

What I noticed yesterday that bothered me was during the walk from the paddock to the public saddling area, BB's exercise rider Michelle Nivens (the blonde in the pix, above), was walking ahead of BB with a HUGE scowl on her face, waving off all the cameramen and reporters, yelling at them to get far away from the horse. She of course has every right to do this, but you couldn't help but notice how up-tight she and all his connections were prior to the race. Horses are so sensitive, and BB's also said to be extremely smart. She and BB are very close, and I wonder if he picked up on her anxiety and anger. No one looks happy or relaxed here, on the way to the track... And I also agree that Desormeaux (who rode my TB a number of times in southern Californiain the '90's) was having a heck of a time getting BB to listen to him, the announcers called BB's behavior being "rank".
