My vets office just called me regarding 2 horses being abandoned when renters left. Now the homeowner who doesn't know anything about horses has 2 Young horses and he doesn't know what he can do legally. Does anyone have information about WA laws on this. Can he give the horses away? Does he have to wait? Does he have to take legal action? Any help would be great... Penny

WA statues are online. Do a search on abandoned animals. In Idaho, it is 5 days, and all you have to do is make a reasonable effort, like posting an ad in the paper and calling animal control.

People just amaze me - I have seen alot of dogs/cats/birds/ect left - but leaving horses?? Not that any of it is right. I guess it is a continuing sign of our economy - so many people ditching horses because they can't afford to feed them
