Crystal Peaks is in Bend, and a couple of years ago, they adopted a couple (?) of CBER horses - one was a pregnant mare I believe..
Kim Meeder has been putting on seminars to teach other people how to do this in their areas............I admit I haven't actually been out to the ranch, and it's only about 6-8 miles from me.
I have heard only good things about them. I think kidznhorses has been there.............

If you want to read a great book, the one listed on that web site, "Hope For Horses" is awesome. She tells all these great, and sometimes sad, stories of horses she's saved. She tells how these rescued horses helped with some of the troubled kids who come to her place. Keep a box of tissues handy. A great gift idea for your favorite riding buddy's birthday.

highcountry your right great book and a box of tissue's is a must .i have been talking about this exact thing for a long time.the kids in our little town have nothing at all to do ,so turn to the bad things that get them in trouble and i think it would be a blessing to have somewhere for them to go to feel loved just because they are themselves.and as many of us already know our horsey freinds are great at showing us that we are loved even with our improfections.
