There is another fire burning between the ocean and the last fire. It may meet up with the burn zone from the last fire. There are many, many horses in the area. If you drive down Larkin Valley Road you would think you were in Kentucky. Pregnant Mare Rescue is dead center of the fire zone. Lynn has evacuated safely with all the animals. Fire was 400 yards away as the last horse loaded. While I am VERY grateful Lynn and all were able to evacuate safely, please pray for them and the rest of the residents as well. I am also grateful there is little-to-no wind tonight. Still, it will be a miracle if she has a house to return to. I've been listening to the radio traffic for Cal Fire - it sounds like they expect to have it contained by tomorrow, but meanwhile it burns. www.mercurynews.com/ci_9650736?source=most_viewed

I hope Lynn's place survives... it sounds like she had a good plan for getting evacuated. What a nightmare! All these fires... makes me never want to leave home A woman just posted on BAEN that she found two horses running wild and took them home to care for until the owners are found. People can be amazingly wonderful. Peg

Lynn is safely out and all of the horses are safely out.
The map on the link above shows the fire zone. Her place is smack dab in the middle. Won't know until tomorrow if her house is still standing.
It was an incredibly fast moving fire. Those closest to the start didn't have any time at all. AC says they've seen a number of dead animals in the fire zone. Very sad for everyone.
Strike teams are still arriving - which actually surprises me since they expect to have it 100% contained by morning. But, I guess they want to be REALLY sure it doesn't get away from them.

This is just horrible. unfortunately I don't think we've seen the worst of it. With the little rain we had this year, and the already record high temperature (106 yesterday in Ramona). This could be a horrible fire season. My thoughts are with all that are affected by this fire, may they be able to get it out soon.

Here is the link in case anyone is interested in getting it "from the horse's mouth." Lynn's place is still standing, but some of her friends/neighbors have had terrible losses. www.pregnantmarerescue.com/

We were driving to Yosemite yesterday afternoon. There were many lightning strikes near Merced and we saw 3 fires burning on the road into Yosemite. In fact, the CHP and fire crews had to shut down the road as one fire was burning on BOTH sides of it! The fire crews were able to completely save one ranch, all the buildings around it, but their acreage was GONE. Like I said, we saw many lightning strikes. There was another fire burning up the hill, by Mariposa.
Yes, everywhere we went, there was DRY, dry brush. It is going to be a LONG, HOT summer.
