A heavy heart.....Belgian Mare to rehome.

It is with aheavy heart that I write this. My family and I have been discussing hour finances and barn space going into winter and I have decided to part with my beloved Belgian mare.

Kris is a 22 yr old, 16 + hh Belgian mare. Does it all, rides like a dream, trained to cart, has done logging events in her past, trail rides, has been hunted off of and packed...knows everything a draft should know. COMPLETELY sound. Absolutely nothing wrong with this girl. Had her teeth floated May 11th of this year.

My preference would be to donate her to a reputable theraputic riding facility, as she is extremely docile and VERY careful around kids. I also know that this way I could see her and make sure she is being taken care of.

That being said, I would also be willing to part with her to a responsible home that would be willing to sign a contract stating that I have first right of refusal.

This mare still has TONS of get up and go!!! I am a 300 + lb woman and she packs me around like I am nothing. I have gone trail riding on her and beach riding.

I have more to say about her but this is breaking my heart. If you are interested in her or have any reccomendations of therapy riding centers near Salem Oregon, please let me know.

Well I haven't had any luck finding a theraputic riding center that needs another horse.... Anyone out there want a big, healthy, broke, broke, broke mare that is safe, sound and has a heart of gold? need a bigger horse for your hubby? a safe mount for your kids? this girl is it. What does it cost to keep her?

So many people are in this position and I don't know if fundraisers could be organized or not - but I do believe the economy will improve after the next election. I bet that oil prices go down and that the financial markets will be regulated (I got that out of the Wall Street Journal!).

I wish I could help more but things may well improve, come November.

There is also the Healing Winds Therapedic Center in Brush Prairie, WA (just north of Vancouver) that may be interested. Here's their number. I don't know anything about them but they were looking for horses awhile ago.
