I put Ed on craigslist and on dreamhorse, and got nary a bite. I talked with my sweetie last night (who is still working in Pendleton, and who hasn't been home in nearly a month, poor fellow), and floated a great idea that Beckybee suggested. If I sell Pippa, I can take the money I get from selling her to send Ed off for training. Then if I have to sell him, or find a home for him, at least he has some value besides just being a very nice horse. The market is pretty bad, but I priced her for what I paid for her, and I know I got a really good deal on her when I bought her (seeing how she was already in my barn, and the fellow who owned her was in Arizona, and had ditched her with his horse-phobic girlfriend across the street from my house, for 9 months). For APHA horses in Oregon in her age range, she's the second lowest listing. Here's her link: www.dreamhorse.com/show_horse.php?form_horse_id=1245866I have never sold a horse before. I have no idea what I'm doing. I know how to do vet and farrier checks, and a site check. I think I can develop a good contract, but I'm not sure if I'm marketing her right. I'm really sad to have to sell her, but I think in the right home she'll be okay. I'm going to start talking with her about it today. She's going to be really upset to leave her friend, Ed.

Since she is ridable, I'd put her under tack with someone in the saddle for her sale photo. Check out Equine Legal Solutions website for sale contracts - or ideas on what should be in a contract and "How to sell your horse". Bay Area Equestrian Network website also has forms and articles.
