Spot On Fly Control?
Pro's? Con's?
It looks like something easy, supposed to last 5 - 7 days, and I have 2 horses that seem to have fly allergies.
Be curious to find out if anybody has used it and what they think.
Thanks

I use it and it works really well. The only problem is that if you need to rinse your horse off a lot, it won't last very long. In my experience it really works to keep the ticks off and is pretty good about flies. I have never found anything that is 100% on the fly control.

We also use it on the pasture horses and it seems to help a lot. Also spot spray a little as needed and fly cream on the gnat bites, but there are much less of those when we use the Equi spot. We try to keep on a schedule with it and replace it every 2 weeks. If you order online it is much cheaper than at the feedstores, etc.

We have also used it, mostly on the ones who get hives from the bites... I think it works well too, but you do have to put the next dose on at exactly 2 weeks as it just stops working then... no con's for me except that I learned the hard way that in order to put it on the belly, which I like to do, you have to do that FIRST... :-) when there is enough to squirt it upright... there you go, a tip for ya!

Thanks for the tips, I'll give it a shot! I found it on ValleyVet.com for $10.29 (if you buy 3 packs).

I love it. Works great and lasts longer than most products. I swear I should buy it by the truckload!

This is all I use on my kids. They don't like the smell, though, especially Sierra! She will curl her lips after I put it on, and then run around the pasture like she is trying to blow the stink off...

I think it does a good job - but I found it burned the skin on 2 of my horses where applied. I suggest a patch test on your horse just like you would do for yourself before coloring your hair. A small spot on the neck, let it sit for 24 hours and if all is well - proceed Sara

Thanks Sara, I'll test it first.

Some horses are more sensitive than others, so do test. Please distribute carefully as directed, since too much in one area can make hair come out on some animals. Mine have never had a problem, but I do know folks whose horses have had a mild reaction.

I had better luck with the freedom spot on for the sensitve kids. They don't panic adn dance around like they are being scalded when I put it on. But - it is alot more expensive. I found 4 packs of 6 each on ebay for $15 - so bought those!
