AWE, cute pictures, glad she's doing well, and has a step-mom that takes good care of her, and teaches her the ropes.

She is doing well. Really rolly polly ;D She has been nursing off my mare and eating like a piggy. She will have her hernia surgery in a couple of weeks. Legs are doing MUCH better!
I will try and get some new photo's this week. Tasha saw her and said she doesn't look like the same baby.

We no longer have Destiny in our care. Jenn has removed her from the pasture without notifying us. She has not had her hernia surgery that was scheduled for Wednesday. I do not know where she went or Jenn's plans with her. Last contact I had with Jenn was she needed a place for her goats as they were no longer able to live in their current house.
I do have concerns for Destiny.

Not the news I was hoping to see here today. Unfortunately, this foal was named Dark Destiny. . .and. . .that seems to be her furture.

Dreamer123, you are sorely mistaken. No one was being "immature" and in fact no one was "giving her (jenn) crap". All were expressing concern for a filly who was not being given the care she needed before Dean took her on; this filly was living with multiple hazards including barbecue grills, gardening tools, and sliding glass doors. In the photos that Dean posted I see a well-fed filly who is living with other horses (which privilege she did not have at Jenn's), who is not surrounded by accidents waiting to happen, and who is clearly in good health. I agree with Dean that her legs even looked better. If Jenn "had concerns" why would she surreptitiously remove the filly without notifying anyone of her plans? Why would she take the filly away a mere few days before her scheduled surgery?
And last but not least, why did you join the board today? Could it possibly be that you have your own hidden agenda? Are you by chance hiding your true identity? If you are, then I'd have to say that the accusation of immature behavior sticks more to you than to anyone here who has merely expressed concerns for this filly's well-being.

Okay so not wanting to get into a pi$$ing match here but the pics that were posted of her on the 13th were "2 weeks ago" and her belly was looking bigger than this pic. Not accusing anyone here but to me, and I have to admit I'm no expert, she looked wormy in the pics posted on the 13th. In this bottom pic she doesn't look wormy but you can sure see her hernia.
Also curious as to why her hernia surgery wasn't done before this scheduled appt. on Wednesday. Again, I'm no expert, but wouldn't it be better to have a hernia fixed sooner than later as the baby is growing? Can someone fill me in on this kinda thing?
My personal opinion is that the baby shouldn't have been taken from her mother for ANY reason but that is a moot point now and I don't really care WHO has her or WHERE she is except that I HOPE she is getting the BEST care she could possibly get! Sometimes there are too many egos floating around and it interferes with the "best thing for the horse." :0(

I sure hope she still let her have her surgery, did you (Jenn) take her in for her surgery?

I think the pictures of 'Dark Destiny' on the 13th show a happy, healthy little filly. Keep in mind, that foals are going through an incredible growing stage, and without proper nutrition it can cause multiple problems. The 'wormy' foal simply to me looks like she has a nice fat belly and is growing nicely at a steady rate. Her coat looks healthy, and her legs are already starting to straighten out. The last pic. Dean posted, shows again, a very healthy baby. I think there is enough drama out there without people getting on here trying to stir up the sh*t pot. I am so sick of this! I think it is rather suspicious that the filly was taken without Dean being notified, and also very selfish. It also saddens me that the little filly missed her appointment, as she clearly needed it!

Well - all drama aside - I do hope that Jen knows how desperate it is that she have this hernia surgery done. SMALL hernias are not as critical, but larger ones can have the intestines drop down into them, cause impaction, colic, or pinch off blood supply all causing a very serious emergency. The larger this little one gets the worse it will be because the stomach walls will start to harden/thicken - which is normal, BUT it will cause more pull on the hernia area.
I do hope that if there is someone on here who knows jen that they can relay this. If funds are the issue then she needs to find someone who can take this filly and have the surgery done.
All politics aside, the big thing is that she does what is best for the animal in her care that she loves.
