~ CROSS-POST FROM BAEN ~
Desperate to Find Mare - Sold in Turlock, CA July 5, 2008 I am desperately looking for my 18 year old Appaloosa mare Amy who sold at the CowTown Auction House Sale in Turlock, CA last Saturday, July 5. She sold for almost nothing and I fear the worst has/will become of her. She is a 15.3 hand chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail. She has snowflakes all over her body, concentrated on her chest and hips that make her look roan. She is has a slight metallic sheen to her coat is often mistaken as a palomino. She has a star, strip and snip on her face and two white socks. She had an accident in a trailer and, I am told, has scarring on her head. She may be blind in one eye. She is sweet and gentle, but may be spooky if her vision is impaired. I sold Amy four years ago, and I have just followed her trail to the auction 5 days too late. I am desperate to find her and buy her back. I have not been able to get any information from the people at the auction company. I am willing to reward anyone who provides me with information leading to her recovery. I would very much like to speak with anyone familiar with that auction or the local stockyards and meat buyers, even if they were not at the sale last Saturday. Please feel free to forward and crosspost this message. I am intensely grateful for your help.

This is a terrible story!
I forwarded it along to Joe Shelton and followed up w/a voicemail message. He may know someone who was there that weekend. It's worth a try.
Edited to add that Joe called me this afternoon - he will check around the feedlots for this horse.
