Please do. www.tbfriends.comI realize most of you are in the PNW and cannot help directly. Funds are not being requested - homes are. Please say a prayer, jingle, spread the word for these horses. This is the tip of the iceberg down here, and an example of why I've had to turn my attention to the problems in my own backyard. Caly

Thanks for posting the link Caly, sounds like it's getting really bad. I just took 2 in yesterday, nothing compared to what Joe is doing, but you can see horses going for less and less, and they're posted for a long time, eventually I'm sure owners will take just about anything to get rid of them. Everybody is talking about things getting even worse before they get better..... Sending jingles to all the horses, hoping they find good homes.

I called to offer to haul horses south if there are people here that want them.
But there are still Equus seized horses available here at LA county AC Castaic shelter.

Thanks for posting!
I think things will take a turn for the worse before winter this year like we have never seen before.
I can only hope people WILL STOP BREEDING and turn to rescue instead. There are SO MANY GREAT horses available now.

Anyone know which ranch near Napa he's referring to? Not aware of any big TB ranch near here.

Four ranches - 71 horses needing homes! Why do people breed so many horses? I hope that homes can be found for them.

Things are a mess. It reminds me of a larger scale version of what happened with many of the PMU farms shut down and the market got absolutely flooded with x-pmu mares. MANY went to slaughter before the industry got under control again as far as population. At least many of those farmers are actually responsible - alot of the crappy farmers got cut.
I think it is going to get absolutely horrible before the market levels out again. It is so sad - the horses suffer because of things. I feel like it is much worse than it would normally be simply because of the cost of gas and feed. People that would normally lend a hand, take in a horse or two, or simply contribute to rescue organizations just are not in a position financially. I know that for myself - I would certainly be contributing in a bigger way if it was not for the cost of everything.
Rock and a hard spot ....... I just hope something gives soon....

I just found out Cber Lotus, my tbred mare's 2007 colt is being sold. Actually the whole herd. I wonder how I'd go about getting him before they take him to auction? I didn't even realize she had an 07 colt!

WOW, did you read the blog this morning? 71 horses, 34 have been placed, 14 of those have already been delivered to their new home, 19 others have transport arranged. That is amazing!
