Got some oranges for my guys, and thought I'll see if Buster and Buddy like them as well. They try anything that is food related :-) So I threw an orange in each of their feeder, and Buster had to take his out, and shake it, I guess it scared the whits out of him when he broke the skin, must have sprayed some in his face, he jumped about a foot backwards. But then decided it was really good. Yesterday they got a bit of watermelon. They'll be really spoiled by the time they leave here.

So yesterday was the first time I actually worked with these 2 a little bit. Buddy let me lead him around the roundpen, and yielded nicely (although I think it's mostly because he still has issues with his butt touched, unless you work your way back from the neck). Then he let me pet him all over. Buster got some halter training. He wasn't to excited about it, but after a while he let me approach him, and with lots of scritches we got the halter on no problem, and off, and on..... He does lead nice as well. Because they were both such good boys, I got them some CandyCanes, they weren't to sure about them first, but after the first sniff, bite, oh boy, we've created 2 Monsters, they absolutely loved them!!!!

So I've been letting the 2 out in the pasture with the rest of the crew in the afternoons until dinner time, just so they get a different view, and get used to have to go back in the round pen for dinner. There is still some ear pinning going on, but all in all they get along just fine now.
Yesterday for the first time, they let me approach them in the pasture and pet both of them. I was so excited, it might have been a fluke, or close enough to dinner, but still....

Haven't posted in a while, and just wanted to give you all an update on these 2. Yes, they're still at my house. They are coming along very nice, and if they had somebody that could actually spend the time with them, they'd be broke in no time. They will come up to us in the pasture for scratches, and follow you around. I have been working a bit more with Buster, and he now lets me put the halter on, no problem. I put it on last night (I know, not supposed to, and this was a special thing). This morning, my BF was able to walk up to him in the pasture and take it off. He said he didn't give him any problems whatsoever, and let him do it without any fuss. Very proud of Buster, Buddy on the other hand, needs a bit more work. He is a little goober ;D

Really nice looking boys! I'm relatively close to you (near Temecula) and have experience with Mustangs. I will pass the info on these boys around to my Mustang friends. I wish I could take one of them, but I do not need another horse!
Does Buster have a clubby front foot or is that just the angle of the pic?

Thanks for the help. The foot must be the angle of the picture, they're feet are perfect, a bit long, they're due for a trim right now. Thanks, I wish I could keep Buster, but already have 5 They are both super sweet, and very fun.
