For those of us in the North Bay Area, there is an "Art and Equestrian Festival" taking place in Petaluma on July 20th. It looks to be a fund-raiser for Mentor Me Petaluma, and includes a polo match, show jumping, and barrel racing (a little bit of something for everyone!)* Here is the link in case any one is interested ... www.PAEFestival.orgIf anyone thinks they may go, let me know, I'd love to meet up! *and of course the requisite wine tasting! It wouldn't be Sonoma County without a wine tasting!

I heard about this in the local Napa valley paper, sounds like big fun ... as long as it's not 100 degrees out!
I'm especially interested in watching a polo match.
Hopefully we can get a group together.

I've sent an email to the program coordinator requesting the equestrian schedule. If I hear back, I'll post the info here.

Well, if all of you will be in Petaluma, you should plan some extra time to come to Watermark Farm to visit with Cayenne, our newest rescue project, a TB gelding from the feedlot.
Cayenne will arrive at Katie's on Monday, 7/14, and we'd love to show him off!

I'm going to try and take some time from packing and go. I wanted to go to the polo here in kenwood but it was $75! too much. but this sounds doable. Petaluma is only 20 minutes from here.

OK, here's the email I got from the program coordinator:
Hi Hope,
Thanks for your email. Our web person is supposed to get the schedule on the site today!
In the meantime, here it is (approximate, but probably pretty close):
11:45-12:15 Giant Steps Therapeutic Equestrian Center demo
12:30-1:00 Show jumping
1:45-2:45 Demonstration polo match
3:30-4:00 Barrel racing
Thanks again. Here's hoping we have great weather!

Macella O'Neill rocks! she's a phenomenal rider and trainer, well worth the time and effort to watch her in the show jumping arena. Fearless.
Macella trained Joe Montana's family - Jennifer and the two daughters all rode with Diamond Mountain (near Calistoga, CA), and Joe himself. They, of course, bought, competed on and sold a long list of high-end jumpers, the best money can buy.

So, is anyone planning to attend this event today?
I'm going to be in Santa Rosa to work with Cayenne mid-day, and would love to swing by this event in the afternoon, and could meet up with someone.

Darn it, we have the farrier coming to do a bunch (it's always a bunch here!) and just said good bye to Shimmer... so we can't make it! take pics and tell us how it is, ok? oh, and say hi to Cayenne for me too, ok?

Great pictures, thanks!
I didn't make it over to the event, but gosh, I wished I'd seen that polo match, someday I'd love to try that sport!
Was it well- attended? This is the first try at a cross-discipline equine festival in Sonoma County and wondered if it was well received.

It was very well attended. Bleachers were full, had to stand half the time. Fun event to watch, glad we got in free($40 was too much). Great to have variety events so the kids can see all the different things you can do with a horse and the different attire.
