OK so now that I have waited for Delite.. Symphony is getting ready. She is due (342 days on 8/3) Symphony is droppy and slow, really being snuggly and not eating with her normal gusto the last 4 days. In the same 4 days she has gone from not much bag at all to rock hard this... and I found this on her leg this afternoon, can't figure out what it might be except perhaps she dripped some milk??? What do you think? Here is her jiggly butt www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLMtLDq9fSMMeanwhile Delite the tormentor looks like this Bag and jiggly butt www.youtube.com/watch?v=tliaDfJhLUc

I say neither!!! dang, neither one has mature bags yet! the teets will swell up and point directly out away from each other before they wax, and THEN she'll deliver! watch the boobies...!!!

I am !! LOL but Delite has looked like this forever and according to her former owner, she never fully bags before she delivers. HSe taunts me every night with pre foaling motions and then stops about 3 am EVERY night! (fricken rassin frackin mumble mumble) Symphony is just so mopey, pushing into me ... and to be off her feed even a little?? I mean she is eating half what she normally does, and just picking at that! I feel SOOO bad for her! (of course because I love her like crazy) and that not so developed bag is HARD AS A ROCK! I can not even get in between to clean it!

Oy vey, I'm not looking forward to our watch... not until Sept 18 for us... and the kids will be in school! argh...
check the milk, a few drops on a black plastic lid of some sort, it will go to total thick white a day before she foals. :=)

Found stiff wax on Symphony's teats, and Delite's nipples are bigger then they were this afternoon..
Delite ate 2 flakes of alfalfa (ever speck) and Symphony didn't even finish one flake. She wants her head rubbed and gave me her butt to massage for awhile and is clingy.
If I can figure out how to sleep out there without bothering Delite or getting stepped on by my FatButt girl I will. ;D Otherwise its up every 2 hours to visit her. (which will probably keep Delite from foaling as anytime you open the slider she nickers for FOOD! LOL

Symphony is going to foal in 3 days or less. - Going off feed seems to be a standard of them being miserably uncomfortable. Keep in mind that pregnant ladies body temps seem to be higher than average - lol. Try cool hosing her a few times a day - might make her a bit more comfortable. Also - try doing a nice bran mash that is warm. (wheat bran - 3-4 cups, whole oats(1 cup), brown sugar(2-3 tablespoons), Apple sauce(1 cup). mix with hot water till it forms a soft mash, but not soup. When my mares get like symphony and are uncomfortable I do this for them. also - for some mares when the foal is kicking their ribs in, putting their head down to eat can make it worse. Try putting the hay in a hay bag about chest height also - have you explained to your ladies that they are WAY behind foaling season lol. They need to pop those babies out soon or they MIGHT be considered slackers lololol. Also - with my mares that keep "teasing" me with baby motions, I put almost an entire or even 2 worth of fresh straw in the large foaling stalls (totalling about 3 bales bedding) but I shake it out then pile it up in a corner or middle and let them "nest" for alot of them - this gives them that final push to let baby out Ya know how us ladies can be about "interior decorating" asthetics can be EVERYTHING!! Hang in there! Sara

ohhhh and the mark on the leg looks like a slug trail to me Sara LOL this is the desert.. no slugs here. I know they are behind I didn't do this to either one of them. it has been hot and i have a mister on the stall but Delite won't stand under it when it is on. As for Symphony she doesn't like to be in a stall at all, so I spread shavings in her favorite sleeping spot and then she wouldn't go near it!! maybe it reminded her of the box stall at the Vegas show? She usually LOVES to have her teats cleaned but doesn't want them touched right now. (they are rock hard) She did talk me into a 45 minute massage at 11pm. If I started to walk away she would follow and ask for more. She barely ate 1 flake of hay while Delite chowed down 2 and asked for more LOL I am supposed to leave tonite to haul to an ETI convention thingie.. Debating taking Delite over to Laurie's so she won't be alone. But I swear as ready as she looks she just won't have the dang thing! HC Poll has Delite foaling first 10-0

All I can say is OMG! Sorry for the delay I JUST got to see myself!! Yes I stayed home last night snuggling Sym and visiting with Delite because my neighbors were going ot be gone too. NOTHING Delite paced lifted tail, crossed her back legs and slept off and on, BUT for the first time poked thru the last of her dinner. Went out at 11, at 1, at 2:30, to check Sym rest of the time watching foal cam on Delite. I toss breakfast to everyone as I leave at 4:30 am. Pick up Happy Horse Academy clinicians and head for LA Equestrian Center for the ETI nationals (I think) Get a call girl from across the street that Symphony is having a baby. Other neighbor not real horsie is there with too watching, but not really horse people, so I call my friend Barb and she drives over from Oak Hills. Baby is fine Dun Paint Filly, bald face, 3 white socks, 2 blue eyes (w/eyeliner) and a few spots on flanks and belly. Baby is up, baby nurses and poops, placenta is not out. She takes pics but no camera phone! Had called another friend who gets message later and goes over, son takes pics w/35 mm. Placenta still not out. NO camera phone! Called my vet (Dr Johnson just started working July 7th so we now have a Saturday one! AND HE TRAVELS!) Ask how long to wait he says 4 hours is OK after 6 he wants to come give shots. I tell him I am not home but will have someone recheck her and meet him if needed. About 3 as I am hang up from asking Barb to go back over, phone rings again and it is mom of girl from this morning laughing really excited and says your horse had a baby. I say I know and she says no THE OTHER ONE! JUST NOW AS WE DROVE UP! She tells me it is tan and white too a little darker then Symphonys with similar markings... Thats its REALLY cute and I am going to LOVE it! I AM WONDERING CAN I POSSIBLY HAVE GONE 3 FOR 3 ON DUN FOALS THIS YEAR? IS IT MAYBE A PAL OR A BUCKSKIN AND NOT A DUN? Baby is up bouncing around (probably thrilled to be out of there!) Nursing, pooping, Delite has already drop placenta. Barb arrives and Delites baby is a RED paint filly. Bald face, one white sock white splashed on sides, and one blue eye. Everyone is going on about how cute Delites baby is.. and I want to cry again because isn't Syms baby cute too? Keep in mind I've already cried because Sym delivered without me. She was up by the house when I left and had no idea I was leaving until I took off. What if she had wanted me there and waited for morning.... and I just tossed her hay and drove away ;( Sym plops out placenta while Barb is here missed call from vet checking on Sym while talking to Barb, so I call back and tell service to let him know shes fine AND we have a second baby. All is fine with both moms and both foals, so go eat and home to sleep and I will see him monday morning in the office Anyway both are cute Syms baby has a messy poo on her butt and tail but she is sort of done with attention since about 10 people were coming in to check on and look at them so she was not happy with me trying to soak it off. Delites baby is piss and vinegar like and good cow horse should be ;D already tried to kick Beth at 4 hours old, but is already nickering to her now. SOOOO Beth has a Dun colt, and I have a Dun filly... and I have to go send pics to the guy that wants to buy Delites baby, so he can see his red paint baby... AND I need to decide on a name for Syms baby girl. Angi said to put Solstice in it.. but I was sort of tossing around the name Summer. Summer Solstice is no good because we named mom Symphony Solstice because of the Summer Solstice.. What about Summer Tryst? Mom is Symphony Solstice Dad is Eyes A Dun Dee Any suggestions?
