I haven't been around for a good amount of time, so I thought I'd write up an update on the girls (birdie and tahoe) and myself.
I was going through a rough patch for a while there, but it looks like everyone's getting out of the hole now. (myself and the girls included).
The business I was in is tanking from the CRap economy. The job is ending quick, but it's leaving room for new opportunities. I'm going to start school at the art institute of san francisco this fall for media arts & animation, which could lead me into advertisement. I might start a distillery for vodka and gin with the guys in my family, so we're hoping to get the ball rolling soon. Fun things coming. Hopefully more financial stability in the future. =D (more horses? bwahahah)
As for the girls:
Birdie was being treated for a pull back injury that occurred about 8 months ago, which took me a while to recognize (even the trainer I was working with for a while didn't notice anything). But, after feeling around on her neck and back, I found quite a bit of soreness in various suspicious places. I have had one chiro/body rehab specialist, one chiropractor, and one reiki specialist work on her. She's had a series of chiropractic visits which look to have, along with daily various stretches, put her back in order. He says 2 more weeks and I can ride her again, for the first time in a LONG time!! Needless to say, I have some brushing up to do with her. Probably not too much, since I've been pretty good at keeping her ground manners goin'. She's filling out really nicely, especially now that the stress on her right side is subsiding and she's getting more even movement. She's getting beefy! (In a really really good way). I'll take newer pictures soon.
I've also been working with a horse that has been passed through hands and before she was mine, she was already mine. I've been working with her for about a year 1/2 before I took her on as my own, and anyone that knew her before wouldn't recognize her now. She had serious trust issues, confidence issues, social problems with people and horses, and was extremely tense. She is now a much fatter, much more relaxed, and totally sweet horse. She has become one of my best friends, but I have known for a while that I couldn't keep her. The time came not too long ago that she was ready for a new home. I wasn't going to give her to just anyone, of course. Luckily, a sweet girl named Sarah that runs an animal sanctuary in northern california contacted me about her. She's got a bunch of creatures of all kinds including horses that will forever have a home with her. The tiny problem? None of the horses are ridable. I wanted a forever home that would love and care for Tahoe the way I would myself given the ability, and she wants a horse that can be ridden. Perfect? I think so. So, Tahoe is scheduled to leave for the sanctuary on the 31st of this month. I'm going to miss her SO much, but I'm very much at peace knowing that she will be loved and cared for for the rest of her days.
So, all in all, rough times do come around into better times. Right now? This is a good time. =) Thanks for listening. Now, I'm going to go enjoy the best vacation I've ever had (and probably the one I needed the most).
