My heart broke when I saw the picture of the arab that no-one bid on. How can horses trust us after moments like this?

I think that this blog was really well written and is easy for the inexperienced or unaware to follow and understand. Hopefully it will get cross posted for many to see....

You know for years we went to the Enumclaw auction barn with my grandpa. He had 20 acres and raised beef cattle and thats where we got all our horses from was the auction. I remember being excited to go, it was an adventure and a fun outing with our Grandparents. Some of the horses were great, most were lame to some extent and one was down right crazy. I guess as kids you dont know what really goes on there and if we did we were too young to fully understand what happened to the "kill pen horses". I still remember to this day seeing a black horse that had lost his eye somewhere along the way standing in the crowded kill pen. He had the sweetest face. It broke my heart now reading that article. Some months I want to go to the horse auction, but Im afraid of what I might see there. I dont know if I could stop myself from bidding on one of the horses that go through the ring. My husband would kill me if I did as we are at our max with horses. The old mare with the bad sway back just broke my heart.
