A friend just told me about a very very nice HIGH dollar warmblood gelding, high level dressage horse, who needs a very light light exercise home. 7 yrs old. He has been diagnosed with Cardiac Myopathy and is only allowed up to 20 minutes of very light exercise, nothing stressful. He is a lovely horse and nicely trained. The current owner was not informed of his condition when she paid an extreme amount of money for him as a dressage horse, but she wants to do the right thing for him and place him in a loving final home that will not pass him around. I have not heard a prognosis for length of life, but my understanding is that she would place him somewhere at no charge in exchange for care agreement, etc. I will have to confirm that however. If anyone is interested, please contact me. They even thought he would be good for handicapped program of leadline, etc.

Oh, my goodness! I wouldn't use him for any exercise other than just walking him for ONLY 20 minutes per day, so, giving him to a "handicapped program of leadline" program is NOT good since how is anyone going to be sure they aren't using him for longer than 20 minutes per day??? I can see whewre they might be tempted to use him for longer times per day since he looks healthy, I am sure...and, beautiful, too...
The reason I say this is because my Cardiologist thought that I had Cardiac Myopathy a couple of years ago and in my own research I found that the outcome for any human or animal with this is not good. Fortunately, I do NOT have it, thank goodness!
Anyway, this horse should only be placed with someone who can be trusted to not over- exercise him at all...NEVER.

I was only passing on what they said they were told by their vet, he is doing fine and has competed successfully until this was diagnosed.
