Companion horse/pony needed Reply to: comm-267876594@craigslist.org Date: 2007-01-24, 2:24PM PST
We have a very sweet older but a bit lonely gelding and would like to find a companion for him. Nice paddock, pasture & shed, regular shoeing and vet care, feeding three times/day - tons of TLC! Pony or horse should be kid & horse friendly. Please email for more details/pics. This would be a loving and forever home!

I am glad to see someone who's looking for a horse to say;" rescues are WELCOME". ' I am not sure if we are supposed to or not, but I have contacted several 'horse wanted' people to let them know about horse rescue groups. I've had two email me back for a list of rescue groups. Hope they adopted one. Did you by chance email them?

I'll email them and see if they are interested in getting a list of rescue sites. Cross fingers, hopefully they'll adopt one.

What do u email em just a list of who we have on the b.b.? If there is a list of contact numbers etc and anything else needed I would reply to all these adds. Is there a need for that? I would love a nightly duty

I just sent off emails for the two above.
Before I just waited to see if I got a reply, this time I included the htm's of some of the WA and OR rescues.
As far as what's needed, I don't know. I don't know if we are allowed to contact people or not. I just don't say anything about rescuesonly, so nothing can come back on this place.
Hate to step on any toes.

Why can't we contact people, Or gave a list of the horses? By your post sounds like Terazzo would fit the bill for either one, hope they answer for we are running out of time for several of these guys.

I don't think there's anything wrong with contacting and giving them the websites for the rescues, including suggestions to look at a specific horse that seems to meet their needs. I really think that's what some of these people are asking for!
Heh Heh, I just had an evil thought: one of the posters mentioned a 15 year old girl... I smell a potential rescue addict!

I am glad many of us agree on this.
Jessiegirl1981, looks like you found a job.
Maybe we should make a thread for horses wanted with who has contacted them and any updates

My only additive comment would be to post WHICH craigslist this came from... so we have some idea of the area/state the poster lives in... I don't want to email someone in WA about one of my rescues that are ready for rehoming... down in CA!!!

I'd say yes, depending on your location.
If we can get other members to do the same in defferent locations would be ideal
Thank you so much for being willing to contact people. What do you think about DreamHorse?

this would most likely be a really good way to educate people on rescue horses. Are there other sites to check specifically other than craigslist? does anyone know? i could help too, i just need info to do so, i'm a little new at this, but i can help.

You guys are the best! You are acting on some of the thoughts we've had off and on but have not had time to develop...I am thrilled that you are stepping up for this!
I suggest that someone works at putting together a list of rescues for three or 4 states...some of which are listed on this board...(remember, we're just getting started!) And while you're at it, could you contact the rescue, tell them about us and ask permission to list their horses on our site? Give them the link so they can check us out...
I think you can check ads from just about any of your local papers, Craigslists for starters... the only caution that I see at this point is to be careful when contacting some of the posters, we don't want them to feel like we are spamming them...
I can see this developing into a whole different aspect of rescue...I think nancik mentioned it too...putting up the wanted category and then using the other category that we have gleaned from CL ads and elsewhere, for other horses at risk needing homes...to help place them!
I think I'll go start a Wanted Category right now.....

This is a new site just recently started by our member Atticus... I think that you folks should contact her to see if you can work together to get these horses on her site as well as on this board...www.freewebs.com/theosplaceonline/Welcome to Theo's Place Online ~Rescue and Referral~ Theo's Place Online is a new online pet rescue designed to help rescues and private owners place their pets in the most safe, secure and loving homes they can find. We assist with screening potential adopters, adoption paperwork, referrals to rescues and veterinarians, getting you the most marketable exposure for your pet and the adoption process. We have a friendly community of people in the animal field for advice and support along the way. Welcome and we hope to see you at Theo's Place Online!

Jessie, you might not want to promote CBER in Seattle right now...too many people with too much caffeine foam at the mouth at the mention of CBER....perhaps promote other rescues or the new sites for advertising horses up for adoption...since we want people to adopt out to responsible new owners...

Not all the people in the Seattle area are Cber bashers. I say get the word out everywhere. PS We do not all drink coffee. lol

Hi galaxy...I don't drink coffee either, but I do like diet Coke! When my hubby and I moved to Oregon, it was just at the time that the coffee industry was gearing up here...we couldn't get over all the little coffee huts in the parking lots all over the place and the Starbucks 100 feet apart! It seemed so odd to us! I'm sure that if we went back to Florida, we'd see coffee spots all over the place there now too...

Jessis, I'm glad that you put a add in the Spokane and Coeur D Alene IDA area for there are some very good horse people in those areas and also ones that need to be informed about are rescue.
