and they ate my alfalfa! I had a few flakes of alfalfa in my driveway next to the garage. I walked out my front door this morning, and it was missing. Darn neighbor goats, I thought. Then I saw perfectly round hoofprints (with healthy looking frogs-btw) and looked up the hill and saw them! The black stallion, his chestnut mare and a yearling and weanling, and maybe another horse or two. The locals told me about these wild horses, but I didn't see them till this morning. Then as I was watching them I saw a bit cat run up my driveway! It sort of looked like a bobcat but had a really long tail. Maybe a young mountian lion or lynx?? do we have those here? It was sort of grey speckled and big and fast. Bigger than my dog, who started to chase it, but then turned around real quick. What a wild morning! Here's our new place: My horses didn't even notice the wild ones...but the wild ones did see them. I hope my fence can keep that stallion out! If we're able, we'll catch him and geld him. I wonder if fish and game comes out with tranq. guns? Darn things were all over my front lawn with my dogs right there-I didn't even hear them. Here's a pic I took from my lawn: sorry all these pics are bad-looks like I'm trying to photograph bigfoot This is the little herd under the tree can you see them- the tree in the middle Here is cber Lotus, Azula-friesian filly, and Mana-icelandic filly the view from the porch Miss Pippa- earlybp's paint mare another shot of baby Azula and Lotus-tbred mare

www.mcclendonicelandics.comthere is a description of all my horses on there. Yes, right before we moved we sold our Friesian mare to a girl in Texas. She's going to an equestrian college to use her for dressage and driving competition. Really, really great home! Lotus has taken over as Azula's mom and they are doing wonderfully-she takes great care of her, protects her but not overprotective. My vet has been out several times to monitor her progress(Azula's) and she is healthy and almost too fat-like most of mine are. That is Brego, the grullo mustang that Toeps helped me get.

That is so cool!!!!! Do the neighbors know if they were turned out at some point, or are they really feral? Good luck gelding the stallion. We want to see more pics!
Bob cats have short tails...mountain lions have long tails..and their cubs are sort of speckled when younger.
This was in Sonoma?

That's way cool. I bet Pippa thought it was cool too. We miss the Pippa, but we are so glad that she's staying at Auntie Icey's.

We moved to Hornbrook, CA. It's right by Yreka and Ashland, OR. I rode Brego the other day, but I hadn't ridden him since I fell off during my last dressage lesson. I've been too cowardly and also too busy moving. Since Hindrikje's gone, I've mostly been riding my stallion, he is the easiest horse I own to ride. But he's still down in Sonoma getting some driving training...I miss him soooo much! Anyhow, my geldings are way too fat-but now that we're settling in we'll get time to ride. We only have 3 or 4 neighbors. Below us is the klamath river, and behind the house is a 3000acre lake. We are renting 60 acres, and above us there is 1000s of cattle grazing acres. That's where the wild horses live. No one seems to know where they came from, but there are about 6 left. We have a fire road right off our driveway so we'll be able to ride for miles. Very exciting after living in town with nowhere to ride but the pasture. I've seen wild horses in Nevada a couple times. There is something about them that makes your heart flutter and your eyes get teary. It's amazing that they were right in my front yard! I'm closing the gate tonight though-can't afford to feed them alfalfa! Thank you, I take pride in taking the best possible care of my horses. I considered getting a nursemare for my filly, but my vet didn't think it was necessary, especially after he watched the strong bond between Lulu(azula) and Lotus. Besides Lotus has 10 times the personality and manners that her dam did. Her dam was a show horse all the way....too high strung to be around my kids. Now all the horses I own are sweet and safe to be around, and that is a big relief! Never once has Lu tried to bite or kick. She halters and leads and picks up all her feet on command and moves off of pressure...she is the best little baby...and her fur is velvet soft!!! BTW-she will never be for sale:) my fatsos the geldings-Brego and Tank my last ride on Orn before I moved So, if I'm riding my gelding out on the trail, and we come across these horses...what sort of reaction do you think they will have? Will that stallion attack us? Will they be scared and run? Will my horse freak out? hmmm??? Our hot tape is Very hot, so I'm hoping they don't get any ideas and breed our mares!! What a thing to worry about! Oh, and that cat was either a young mtn lion or a lynx. and my kids were playing in the yard.

Thank you. It's a bit dry and desert like, not used to that, but I'm sure I'll appreciate not having so much mud! You're never too old for anything:) well, for the most part Since I'm on a picture kick, here are the last pictures I took of Hindrikje before she left.
