Here is the email I received today...........I'm guessing the horses will be shipped to Toppenish - that seems to be what people in Bend do.
So, if you are in the market for an Arab, or know of someone who might be, they are Free, but have a very limited time to be adopted. The phone numbers are in the email below...........
WendyP/Bend, OR __________________________________________________ Hello, I am a volunteer for Hooves and Halos Animal Rescue in Redmond. Today we learned of a herd of mostly Arabian and Arabian crosses that are going to be sold to slaughter tomorrow, if we cannot get them off the property they are currently on. The ranch has been sold and the new owners want them gone. They are free. These are mostly mares, young, registered stock, fat but could use some brushing and feet care. We are told they are up to date on vet care. Some have been ridden in the past. There are two geldings that are rideable, so we are told. One is Arabian and the other is Thoroughbred, both seemed very friendly. Most are bay or grey, there is one beautiful chestnut mare, that we were told was started as a three yr old. In total there are at least a dozen. IF ANYONE CAN HELP WITH PROVIDING A HOME, OFFERING PASTURE FOR A FEW WEEKS OR MONTHS, OR JUST FORWARDING THIS POSTING TO ANYONE YOU THINK MIGHT BE INTERESTED. PLEASE CALL ME OR DIANE AT THE RESCUE WITH ANY OFFERS OF HELP AT 526-0384 (RESCUE) OR 923-3762 (SHAWN). Thank you in advance.

Hi, I was on the another board and received this too. I wish I could help out. Right now I don't have a way to go get one (or two) but if anyone around the Yakima area is going over there...I would take one. Dang vehicles! both of ours in on "the fritz" right now. I did email the info to my brother who lives in the area....I told him to forward to all his horsey friends!

Oh, my! Arabs! I would love to have one again...but, again, I live in a subdivision...but, maybe if someone here who lives near Vancouver, WA (within 20 miles or so, or, even not too far from Portland, OR) has room for an Arab that I would foot the cost for and be its owner? I can afford hay and feed and hoof work, etc, but, I just want to avoid the boarding cost so I can use that money to save more horses as I have been doing? If anyone would like to go together with me to save one of the Arabs...? please let me know....
