As some of you know, Cindy took in 6 rescue appy horses that were severely emaciated. 2 of the mares had brand new babies on their sides. She already had one rescue horse, and took in another yesterday (The paint gelding). She has done an amazing job with the appy horses, they are so fat they look pregnant and waddle! She has a heart as huge as Texas, and hopefully I can get her on the board here soon! Anyway, would anybody like to pitch in and donate towards hay, grain etc.? The paint has some serious dental issues as well, and will have to have his teeth done immediately. They are a MESS! She is feeding a lot of beet pulp, grain, HORSE GUARD, alfalfa pellets, probiotics etc. and a donation would really help out! She doesn't know I am posting this, but I thought this would be a great way to help her out since she is battling her own medical bills as well. Don't get me wrong, she would never let these horses go without, but I thought as a group maybe we could lend a hand? Even donations of blankets, wormers, vitamins etc. would be great....any ideas? She has completely vaccinated all horses, wormed them, gelded the colts, had them all vet checked etc. and has had their feet done. (One colt had suffered severe trauma to the head, had a swollen jaw and could barely eat) The Appy mares were unhandled when they came as well as one of the colts. All are halter broke, leading and in your face wanting lovies! You would not believe the transformation these horses made with a little love!!! Anyway, just a thought....would love some ideas here...... ;D ;D ;D ;D

Where is she located at again? (Sorry, i have been so busy my head is spinning!) Also - what size blankets do you think? I am going through my blankets right now and may have some winter ones for her.

Did we ever get any photos of these critters so we could post them for her under the rehoming section? I am assuming she is wanting to place them, so correct me if that is not right.

I will get some updated photos, the problem is most of the pics have been emailed to me and I can't figure out how to put them on here! I will take some pics tonight or tomorrow ok?! She could use 2 foal blankets (4 months), 1 60", 1 68", 3 72", 1 74". Anything at this point is helpful! Yes, the horses will be re-homed. I will get pics up ok? She plans on keeping them through the winter so she can get them calmer (2 mares), and trained more etc. With the market the way it is, nobody around here wants horses! I tried to give Annie away for free, nobody would even look at her and she is way more gentle/trained than hers....so she is preparing for the long haul....But, for now they are safe and will no longer be starved and abused.

Ok, I spent some time playing with the rescues at Cindy's today...Here are some pictures! Their new home Lucky, he was loose running down the highway--flipped, suffered trauma to the head, was emaciated and covered with lice full of worms Lucky's teeth-worn down from eating dirt--there was NO grass where he came from and this was mid spring! 2 Foals, Dancer and Dreamer--their moms will be posted below, both mothers were EMACIATED, wormy, covered with lice. One of the foals went a few days with barely any milk because she didn't get to Cindy's until she was 5 days old--momma was starving and barely producing.... Excuse the haircuts, it was HOT so I clipped them.....not pretty, but did the trick! Tequila, one of the Mommas...Now a fat pig and bug free!!! (Has moonblindness in one eye) Lady is the Bay, one of the mommas. She was in the disgusting shape as the others. Lady again (I like her ) Deacon--was in horrid condition as above horses Happy Rescue horses! Foals Deacon

When you get the vet/dentist out let them know ahead of time tha they need to bring an ultrasonic scaler to do the front teeth. They need more than floated - they also need actual cleaning to assess the damage done and to see if the teeth are saveable.
Poor kid.

I like the above pic with his alfalfa mush lips, isn't that pretty? I see he has it all over his top teeth in the first open mouth pic! HA! Yes, I realize this isn't your every day float...sigh***** Cindy wants to brush his front teeth really bad, it's driving her nuts. Isn't that sad?! Sara, these are the 2 babies you helped me with.......Thanks!!!!! Any other advice? ??

These are pics of some of the rescues from Cindy's phone, they aren't real clear but you can see in this one how the mares hip bones are sticking out--look at all the crud next to the 'pen'. I wish we had a side view, but don't....

That big pile of stuff looks like their saddles +...Can't take care of the animals let alone the saddles...Ours look dumb hanging in the barn, but at less not on the ground in a pile..
Had to add this..AAAAWWWWW that little one with no white (solid buckskin)....Has a cute face like BB did...So, so, just so cute...

Actually, if you look close it's a bunch of misc. crap. The guy is a packrat big time! There was everything from childrens toys to furniture in his barn. This was an area he shoved everything over so he could catch the mare and foal. Foals were just born in these pics....The pics truly do not show how emaciated they were. Their backbones stuck up about 4 inches and they had big pot bellies full of worms.........Aren't the babies darling? They are very docile and don't really play a lot, is that normal for a 4 month old foal? They eat well, but are very 'quiet'....

Does anybody have any foal blankies lying around not being used? Cindy could certainly use 2 foal blankets for the babies!
