A vet I know really needs to find a home for a nice big 17.3 hand gelding, rides and is talented, she just spent $1000 on training for him. She found he has PSSM and needs to be on a high fat diet. She had wanted to get a little money for him because he such a nice guy, but she told me today that she is willing to place him for free in a good home if they are willing to follow diet protocol, etc. She said he has shown talent for jumping too. She sent me some really dark pics that are hard to see, but Maybe I can get some better ones if someone is interested. You can PM me if you would rather.

PSSM or EPSM is SOOOOOOO manageable - I am suprised that this owner doesn't want to keep the horse. It can take an adjustment period for the diet, but almost all horses that are switched to the extremely high fat no NSC diet do very very well with no reoccurance of tie ups or problems. She is sure she doesn't want to try at least??? It is not hard at all!!!

She is a very busy vet, she is not getting rid of him because of it, she has too many horses she has saved and needs to find homes for some. She knows it is very manageable and wants this guy to go somewhere to get plenty of attention and where he will have a good home.

Gotcha! Some people just don't understand the issue, and it seems a little over whelming. I know of several people on this board even that I have helped who have EPSM diagnosed horses that are now doing great without issue!! Sara

Heidi - Joe Shelton wrote today in TB Friends blog about a number of young riders here in northern California looking for sound, young(ish) 17h+ TBs ... he didn't have any.
You might reach out to him with a heads-up about this gelding, he might be able to connect you with some of these young ladies.
His email is: tbfriends@aol.com

Thanks Nanci, will let him know. This guy is 7- 8 yr old. I will get the rest of the details. She says everyone up here says he is too tall, but surprised dressage gals are not looking at him. ( Especially at the "price") She would love to get a little bit for him for her expenses, but would gift to a really good home.
