What color is this?? For anyone who doesn't recognize the baby... It's Miss Tryst!! Who has turned into a lovebug this week (just as Angi predicted!) and turned into a Grulla (what Angi had always predicted Symphony's baby would be) LOL So I got a Dun from a Sorrel and a Dun... A Sorrel paint from a Bay paint and a Grulla... and a Grulla paint from a Dun paint and a Bay??? (Boy did we dodge the Agouti there or what?

Can't classify the color for ya, but WOW, she's a beauty I neglected to add Dandy and a real picture of DeeDee. You can see Deedee has picked up moms attitude about her playing with the other babies. Mom didn't want her touched by anyone but her, so she pins her ears at the other babies when they ask to play, but she's getting better about it, now that Delite has decided to behave towards the other moms. and here is Dandy at 16 weeks.... and with Tryst at 15 weeks (which makes her 6 weeks and HUGE) LOL Can you tell who my fav of the 3 is?

Ann and Barry sent us pics of Jazzy (Trysts yearling 1/2 sister) I am told she did the exact same thing. Looked Dun at first, then shed out Grulla. This is Jazzy at 14 months. (Barry said Jazzy string tests that she will be 16.2h when she is done!!) Here are some pics Laurie sent me friday... w/ 5month old 1/2 brother Maverick.. she's looking mighty gray overall and not so yellow/orange right? With Mom. It is not spots, it is her new coat growing in under her foal fluff. She is grayish everywhere her fluff is gone. (on her back, inside legs, on her rump, backs of her ears, and her neck)

Ok I guess it's official she isn't Dun, but she isn't quite Grulla yet either. Beth called me the other day and said your horse looks green. GREEN? says I. Well greenish purple was the reply. She isn't green or purple but she hasn't decided to go all the way over to the dark side either so she looks a bit like a sooty high socked buckskin with dun factor. :sigh: Whats black is black though; not orangy tan or brown. Her legs seemed to have corrected just fine and she is still HUGE (she is growing and catching up to her 5 month old brother) She has no fear of the other horses, nor the pig or goat. She went to investigate the pig the other day and got it in trouble! Miss pig just wanted to lay in the mud by the water trough and Miss Tryst went over to push her nose at her and try to sniff her up close. Symphony came over and pushed Tyrst away from the pig and bit it on the ear! Pig sulked and Symphony went back to eating and Tryst went back over to the pig... So the pig got up and made a small charge at her to run her off! LOL She didn't want to get blamed for messing with Tryst again! Deedee looked a bit dehydrated.. not bad but not as perky as I am used to seeing her. No snot of other signs of trouble so we put her and Delite back into the stall where she will hopefully sleep in the shade. She's really friendly but still has an impish twinkle in her eye. Dandy is full of himself. He is back at Angi's so Hayden can do some work. She seems a bit off at a trot since her last trim but her angle was off from NOT letting Gabe trim her before she had Dandy. Jamie got er done on labor day without a single sit down or rearing. Dandy was a good boy for his feet too. Here he is bravely going up to meet Blossom (do you all remember big bodacious feedlot Blossom? Her adopter sent her back to Angi for finishing)

Love these pictures and discussion! This colt's is really keeping everybody guessing! Can't wait to see what color he settles upon. Whatever color, he's got a whole lot of chrome! Love those blue eyes, too. Are blue eyes more sensitive to light?

Do they have Blue Dun Pinto in your registry? My filly was a blue dun pinto and had tannish color winter fur, and steele color in summer and had the dun stripe. Love the pics. Dandy is just gorgeous!

Do they have Blue Dun Pinto in your registry? Dandy is just gorgeous! Thanks! We like dandy a lot too! It's a mustang registry so I guess they are used to just about anything. We have a filly we just adopted out for BLM that has one front roan sock. It's very roaned, almost salt and pepper and ends cleanly Thats it. She's not a roan, she is not an Appy, and has no other color except for a white rear sock, and a small star

Her color seems to be settling into a dark bay dun(more brown then orange) with shoulder bars and cobwebbing. (The top of her face and ears are almost black), and her one black sock has come in! Of course we won't know for sure what color she'll stay until she sheds out next spring but I included some that clearly show her dorsal stripe. Here are some pics of her this weekend matched with some from when she was 10 days old. 2 months 10 days old and making faces to get attention... She cracks me up with her funny faces and strong confident attitude, she certainly is her mommas girl!

awww, she's looking fuzzy wuzzy.
I like bays so I think she's very striking! The darker color makes her "chrome" pop out!

The pic of Dandy is the front yard.. They tried to keep the grass watered and all but there are HUGE trees there that shade it, and also make great patience poles in the hot desert summers. Can you see the tie blocker hanging from the tree? She teaches the horses to tie there and they tend to paw and dig up anything that does manage to grow under the tree.
The first two pictures of Tryst were when we went for a walk and she was looking at a neighbors horses. The last one I was letting Symphony eat some loose hay I had cleaned out of the trailer after we picked up a load of hay. Tryst stayed pretty close then decided she wanted some leaves instead of hay.
They are not usually loose like this, but when we came back from our walk they were working a timid arabian mare and I didn't want to take the baby back there past them in case she decided to cut up running or something and spook the mare.
Symphony and Tryst were 2 blocks away at a friends house until a week ago but I brought them here to be in a private pen because Symphony was loosing too much weight out with the other mares and we already had Delight and DeeDee in the private run there.
Dyna and Chester are over there, and Dandy and Hayden too. I have Sym, Tryst, Rose, and Tiffy here.

Hey-I just noticed the tie hardware too-what is that attached to? a branch or the trunk? This is one colorful beautiful foal! Lisa Thanks it's attached to a branch close to the trunk. Be cautious if you tie to a tree if they are saddled. She watched one mare in for training rub her saddle on the tree on one side swing around and scrape the other side as well. Angi had to laugh though because it's a strong willed mare like mine, and it did seem deliberate as she gave Angi one of those long hard calculating looks just before she did it. Even the owner felt like she did it on purpose. I have two tie blockers on my trailer as well. I like them a lot, especially for horses learning to tie. They say you should tie them higher then their withers so hitching posts are out.. at Lifesavers they have a tie wall. There's a rail at about 6 ft and a wood wall below so there is nothing to stick a foot in or to go over. Here in the desert you use what shade you have ;D

Joe has learned that his big solid butt is good for leaning weight back and breaking about everything-big fat solid lead hardware. I have a tie blocker from Clinton Anderson too-don't want him to break that too-not sure if setting that so it slips out slowly will teach him anything other than just that-if he keeps pulling he will eventually get what he wants. Whaddaya think? ? No malicious bone in his body-he came off the range 2 years ago at age of 18 months (ish) just used to being self sufficient and all.
