Thanks for posting this link-I will pass this on-so many people have NO CLUE of what is happening or how-but even this article claims that slaughter bound horses are old, injured or untrainable.
Also at the bottom of the page-links to other articles by same author-a link to a story about " strugles at a million dollar stable"
a couple who have made $7,000 net profit this year stabling 50 horses at $625-$725 per head. (ON 4 ACRES!!!!-how they can do THAT is beyond me but not part of the article!) Their property taxes were reassesed as if their arena was a warehouse and increased from $5,000 to $32,000!!! OMG

I hate those articles...as if the old, injured, or untrainable deserve that fate.
