This morning's paper lists in "livestock for sale" "To be sold as strays at Chehalis (auction I am assuming) on 11/1/08, 5 horses found in Tacoma area, to claim call Esther Harry 360-481-9246.
WOW-ok so several questions come to mind here-first of which is how long does one need to be in possession of animals to be able to legally sell "stray animals" and how much effort have they put into finding the owner?-like is this listing qualifying as public notice? What condition were they in when found-were they turned loose by an irresponsible owner? Were they supposedly being cared for by an irreputable person-3rd party and does the owner even know? etc. I know there are people on here from all over-how is this handled in your area? Several years ago I found a listing in the paper for someone who had 10 acres and lived on site that took in boarders, not a riding facility-but family farm this guy had. I was out there every day, but there were a couple that were owned by a guy in the army that was in Iraq-well one day guy on property wigged out and went mental-COMPLETELY-dissapeared-so I went out and cared for the animals daily for 3 weeks before this guy was found. -Obvoiusly I found alternative arrangements for my horses immediately, and talked to a gal that drove by theer daily to care for horses just past there etc-but-OMG>>>> I know things are getting worse in general out there-but what experience do others have?

Ask Bob (as he was a AC in the past)...Ok, each county and state is different..If you are a legel inpounder, they also are under different rules...(they must post in paper and so on in hope a owner responds)... Yakima county is 90 days, Spokane county is 30 days...Then animals will be sold at auction or person (s) are given a bill of sale for cost of boarding...

Esther is with the Brand Inspectors office. These horses were strays and have been impounded.
They advertise the horses and the owners then have 10 days to claim them or they go to the auction. These horses will be sold on the 1st at the Chehalis Auction. More than likely to the kill buyers there!
