We have called and made an offer to help, no word yet.
I will post the pics in a few min after I download them, but they look to be drafts, Belgian and Clydes.... cute as buttons and body scores of 2 or less...
all in a field of dirt, not a sprig of food near.
we have NO room, but will squeeze in those we can...
if we are needed.
if we take some, and anyone wants to sponsor one's feed or farrier/vet, we will be grateful...
such sad sad times.
at least they didn't wait until they died....

There seems to be a lot of sad news in the equestrian community lately. The one I am forwarding to you is sad too - but there is HOPE in this one! Someone is actually REACHING OUT for help - which is a lot better then what I hear people are doing in Montana (shoot their horses because they cannot afford them anymore...) or turn them loose in the fields for that same reason (as heard from the Lodi area.)......
Yes, it looks like we are all in for hard times and we have to do everything possible to make sure that innocent animals don't have to suffer because of it.

I was forwarded this and thought I would do the same. I know nothing more than this e-mail and that is enough to call it a tragedy. The sad part as the economy gets worse, so does the plight of many horses. All we can do is be aware and hope we can find homes for as many as possible.

Please email this to all the folks you know and cast your nets wide. Let's see if we can find a few good homes for these dear creatures. All are in fair to good health save one. Their ages are 4 months to 15 years.

can body tell me that i have been looking big for my hubby he shock me by saying like guess i need to look for a shire that will fit me ,,so i have nmy eyes looking sll over;;;but we will see whay pops up

sorry it took me all day. I went fishing, and as I'm standing there, those 3 ft salmon are doing dolfin flips in the air in front of me ... and not biting, not even once. there are 4500 fish in there right now and I haven't caught one! You can see thier big teeth and I guess they just have one thing on thier mind, spawning.

Barb, dont you want Beth's Suffolk? Get him before I do...now am I understanding what your husband said...Are you looking for a big horse for him...?I hope that's what he meant by that comment;)

Oh and Beth, of course you can come visit- we have our own campground and we are Right on the Klamath River. So far we've caught one Jack, my 11yr old daughter caught it. The fish hatchery is right next door to us, so they do all the spawning stuff right here. Today I took my son for a walk down the creek and we saw hundreds of huge fish in this little tiny creek, their backs half out of the water-really impressive sight, I've never seen anything like it.

I am gald that the owners surrendered - but how completely sad. It looks like some are in ok weight - although look fairly wormy. I wish we were in a position to take a couple in - even send them to oregon. But - at this point we arent.

Out of curiousity - were these PMU horses originally - or do we know??? Because of the variety of breeds it crossed my mind.

I was busy today, but as of this am, she was saying there were 8 left, but she has lots of contacts out calling her.
the horses were at a known hoarder's place, she does not vet, farrier, worm, or shots, she just breeds, and for 'warmbloods'.
none were PMU.
and she only feeds bare minimum to get by, and recently lost her job and said she couldnt' feed them...
I'll write the woman again to make sure none need homes, one yearling had pigeon fever and is healing, the black and white mare's foal.. .
we offered to home that one... we will see.
there is also a gentle 8 year old belgian gelding, broke and sweet,

My Suffolk is lovely and could hold a large man I think,
he will need some more finish training, but I'm certain you have 'someone' down there who can help you with that!!! Bob is just a love... and has a nice foundation... and not a mean bone in him.
