UPDATE: 2 HORSES, CALF, COW SHOT IN LIVERMORE CA

I've been out of town so couldn't post this sooner.....it has been on BAEN however.

2 horses, including one rescue and the other who's been in the Rose Parade, and used as a childrens' therapy horse on visits to Childrens Hospital, have been shot in cold blood in Livermore, CA. A cow just up the road, and a calf a few miles away, were also slaughtered. All appear to have been shot with a high powered .22 at close range.

One of the horses mercifully died instantly...the other struggled to get home before collapsing. One has been with them for years, and one was rescued and brought back to health just a few months ago.

The owners are understandably devastated - these were their family members. Any and all help in finding the perpetrators would be greatly appreciated. A reward has been established. Please post in your barns, feed stores, etc.......

BA......S!!!!!! I hope they catch them and put them away for a while. A fine or a slap on the wrist just won't do it for me. They need to punish people who do this to animals a lot harsher!

Not much to go on yet. There are a few clues at the scene, and they have a piece of moulding from a 90's White Honda that fell off when a vehicle crashed around the same time.....

Reward is over $17,000 now. They're keeping their remaining horses near the house now. Apparently Lucky (I think Choctaw is the one that died at the scene) managed to get back to the house....they walked out the next morning and found him. He'd been rescued from a really bad situation just a few months ago.

Choctaw was used in a therapeutic riding program here in Livermore (Hoofprints on the Heart, looking into volunteering there) as well as taken to visit sick children at the Shriners Hospital. They were hoping to do the same with Lucky.

The sort of hooligans who do this tend to have big mouths.......they like to brag.....be big men. Someone will say something one day to the wrong person, and they'll get turned in. Just a matter of time..........
