I know a few of you use wood pellets for stall bedding-I just had a DUH moment-Home Depot sells compressed pellets for wood stoves-and at least at the store I work at-the stuff they make it from is the same (some stores get different brands-so read the label-I don't think any would have any additives) ANNNNYYY way-they sell broken bags WAY cheap-like either .51 if there is some missing and $1.01 if the bag is just torn-either way they tape em up and there ya go. I am headding into town to get a load right now. a lot cheaper than th $4.79 regular price. Just thought I'd share. What else do people do to save $$$$? Thanks Lisa PS I am going to get another truckload of feed Tuesday if anyone in the Tacoma/Gig Harbor area wants to go in on it?

Wow - good to know! I go through a full pallet of pellets (50 bags) a month - so any relief woudl be good! as long as they don't have any additives - Ohhhhh and just an FYI - The BLAZER brand pellets are horrible. When they break apart they STINK badly - and don't soak up much urine. Had to get a few bags to tie me over when the store ran out of my regular stuff!!

we did have one kind that stunk too-so it is good to know what brand works best-and each store can get different brands for some reason. I just got home with 10 bags for 10 bucks :-) and a 'shelter extension' kit for 21 bucks-it is supposed to be for a vinyl shed-has 4' wide wall sections and roof over that part-I am going to attach it to the back side of the barn for another out of the rain feeding station-ok so kinda ghetto jimmy rigged-but hey-21 bucks! wish me luck on that one.

When I go to Lowes the broken bags are on top of the rest of the pellets. They do go fast.

I work at the Fircrest HD-in T Town-also known as the one next to the dump-but "Fircrest" sounds more snooty. LOL they not hiring-but at least not like the blue box across the street who just layed off almost 20 people.-Hubby is in play with someone that works at blue box in PO-and sounds like they actually pay more and give commissions and spiffs. As far as the feed stuffs- They pretty much have whatever feed you need-also am picking up cracked corn for my friend's ducks, the rice bran was I think 14 bucks, whole oats 9.50, mountaineer 16 something(only comes in 80 pound bags), they also have cob wet and dry, and stuff like that, senior feed mare&foal, whole and rolled oats, cracked and whole corn, goat, sheep, layer feed etc-not sure what all animals you may have, cheap cat litter-but nothing added for smellies-but all natural, salt and mineral licks-ok ok Sara will tell you the minerals are poo- prices do change some as market fluxuates daily-the beet pulp was 9 bucks when I phoned last time and the next day was 9.15-nothing big-but......just example. I used to pick up for Carmen too-do you talk to her? Lisa

Sara-the bags of pellets at my store are both in the garden department and in the loading zone in front of lumber department-I am not allowed to mark stuff down for myself (I am garden dept supervisor-that would promote me to customer real quick LOL) and yeah-they go fast-but-you can always call ahead-the phone extension for lumber is 321 and garden is 328 to avoid voice mail hell.

Sounds good I think my neighbor is going to try and get some feed so I can just add my order to his stuff. He did not know you could mix and match. Do they have hay pellets? I talk with Carmen every now and then.

Oh AND.... yesterday while standing there at the counter-I was reading through their book of stuff available-they also have "limestone flour" at $2.50 per 50 pound bag. It is 38% calcium. I paid for 2 bags for my yard to give it a try. Lime adjusts the PH in your lawn/soil. The stuff at HD went up in price when shipping got so bad and a 40 pound bag there is like 6 bucks-and the calcium content is either 22% or 36% depending on if you get the powdered or granular stuff, but the powdered will work into the soil faster. OK so I paid for this after they had my bill written up so the guys in the warehouse missed that-am stopping by today to grab my lime and see how it is.
