Well the big storm is to hit tonight and trying to get ready....Up to 3 ft of snow excepted and then single digit temps... Have to empty the barn so the six in the back can come and go...Askhim and Duchess are OK, but may have to move her next to him....This would open her pen for Thunder...Sitka and Aurora are in my back yard, got to sit up something for them....
If we lose power, dang......MustangAppy has my cell no., so if things get bad I'll call her.... May need help...

God Bless you all for thinking ahead about the comfort and safety of your horses and other animals.
So many (ignorant) people don't think twice about their animals when they learn of an impending storm ... but your critters are among the lucky ones, having humans who will steward them through the cold and storm.

Like Nanci said, these horses are lucky to have their people making preparations for their comfort. How much snow did you get?

At 9 PM we had 6.5 inches and it snow maybe another 1 or 2 Early AM...The winds are getting stronger ( can hear it blowing against the house) so snow may be pushed south...Power outages up here are minimal right now (900 res without power)..We still have ours... Roads well, HWY 2 bad but driveable...Eloika Lake road (west off HWY 2) really, really bad...The hill you can make it down as long as no one else is on it...Coming up, forget it...You need 4x4 and lots of room to munover....Accident after accidents....
Finishing buckling down the kids, .Kid out back are nice and dry from being in the trees...Sitka, Aurora and Thunder are doing good with their extra wind breaks...Askhim he's just kicking back and enjoying it... Loon Lake has no power and Mallissa (Clayton Livestock, where Thunder and most of our kids came from) is never ready...On top of a Mt. (big hill to us from the west coast), tons of snow, no power..This means no water, heat and she has no shelters for the horses... Many, Many animals (LG and SM) will suffer....Thank god it's only going to get to -14 to -20...Been colder...That is for owners who have propared....
Thanks For Your Blessing....chatty
12:14...just got back from Deer Park, roads are starting to driffed closed...Horses standing in the open, butts to the wind...Fill sorry for them...Hay barns full, but horses in the open.... Cold, very cold.....

Holding in here...0 out, wiyj wind chill of -14...Out 20 minutes and warm up to do it again....Sky's eye sight is failing, so he hates to be in the barn (can't see, even with the lights), help him find his feed bowl and then out to the confort of the others.... All the others are doing great, even Thunder...No, hauler still hasn't picked him up (was to be here on Sat,. didn't make it)...With his woolly coat and wind brakes doing fine....
