Boy, oh boy. Here's one horse that doesn't deserve this kind of an ending. Can anyone down there help him?

This auction yard is all of 10 minutes from my house; I couldn't get there until Friday afternoon but if anyone wanted me to go there and get more pictures (if he's still there and if the yard owner allows) I will. He's a beauty, I wish I could take him ...

Can anyone offer him a home? So many of us live close by, and we want to help him ... but ... we need a soft place for him to land.

I think until Monday morning , that's when the KB's ship the horses from the Petaluma auction.
BUT ... details are sketchy ... he's at risk right now ... we need to act quickly. It's very unusual for a horse to just take up residence there ... let's assume the worst cast scenario, and help him !
MTA: This is a really awful, AWFUL place ... this feedlot is for cattle, few horses come through here, and when they do, they're doomed ... no one comes here to buy a horse. Any horse landing here is 99.999% going to slaughter ...

I can cross post on BAEN chat board . I just did the budget w/ hubby right now and trying to be responsible and pay off a couple of credit cards...I will be divorced and homeless if I tried to bring him home and pay board on a 2nd horse right now -but he is absolutely gorgeous....dang it.
There's space in the 2 horse paddocks at our barn - $190 a month, if anyone down here (Livermore) wants him........and there's someone on site who may be able to start him. She's done a great job w/ my friends 3 1/2 year old Paint gelding......I don't mind doing groundwork w/ him and giving him lots of loves.....
Seriously though - I hope someone can grab him.

Hey - if someone can get me more details (price, how much time he has, etc) and if someone's got a temp place for him to land....no promises but there is a woman in Sonora, CA who's got 60 acres and has adopted 4 at risk mustangs. She's a friend or acquaintance of my aunt. I can see if she's interested.

This is terrible! I wish the posters would just step up and get him back.
I can't take him, but I'll send this around. I could donate a small amount towards getting him out.

Hi Stacie - Can you please connect with Katie Moore? She's the one who got the original email and is in a position to give you more info, and lives in Sonoma County.

I e-mailed the original owner to see if there is a possibility of them taking him back.

I believe the original email didn't come from the owners, but rather from Kathy Sparling who runs a boarding and natural horsemanship training facility here in Sonoma County.

I sent out an email alert for Sonoma County on this guy after getting a phone call from Kathy Spalding. I sent out an alert for a dog adoption at the same time that Katie Moore had sent me...hence some confusion I see.
Michelle from Saddles and Boots responded to that email and went down and got him out of hock at the auction yard. He was waiting for the next auction which is every Monday at Petaluma. He is now at Kathy Spaldings so that is wonderful for him. He is home for now but will probably be needing a forever home sometime soon.
There are 5 more horses down there; some are a little skinny. There will be more by Mon.
I will be posting to try and get folks interested in going down there and bidding on Mon. I have no foster facilities at this point for auction horses. Any help appreciated and would love to work with whomever is willing to go to auction. I have been there and bought a horse before. Kate Sullivan SAFER Sonoma Action For Equine Rescue 707-824-9543

Yep, that's a handsome buckskin, but I don't think that horse is at risk. That picture looks like it was taken during better times when the mustang was boarded with the person who wrote the original email. I've seen the Petaluma Auction yard, a dreadful place, and that picture is not from there.

Hi,
This mustang has been rescued by a kind soul in the area. He is now safe at my ranch, and we will be keeping him here until a permanent home can be found for him. We had already rescued another mustang from the same auction yard, but lacked the funds to buy the second one.
Thanks for your inquiry. We do want to find a good home for him, so keep us in mind if you know of one.
Kathy
