Copy of an email I recieved this afternoon - It is with great saddness that I'm sending this e-mail. Nearly two years ago I gave my first horse, Classie (some of you may remember her), to a friend whom I knew would take excellent care of her versus selling her to an unknown. Unfortunately, she now finds herself in a situation that she can not keep her and has told me will ultimately put her down if she can't find a good home for her soon. It is very painful to me that I am not in a situation to take her back and am asking if anyone would be interested in taking her or knows of a good home. A little about Classie: She is a beautiful bay 17yr old DW/TB cross mare who was trained to 3rd level. She is healthy and ridable although I imagine very out of shape. She is extreamly kind, sweet, and sensitive - (can be spooky, never dangerous) best suited for someone with horse experience versus a beginner or first time horse owner, but an easy keeper and easy to handle. She turnouts extreamly well in a herd and or with dominant horses, would also be an excellent "baby sitter" companion horse. Great stall habits or does 24hr turnout well with pasture mates. She is a great horse and deserves a chance at a good new home. If someone is interested I think the best route would be to contact the owner (number in the post) I don't know her personally and neither does the friend I got the email from although she did say she would see if she could get a picture or 2 from her.
